On other note, if Brin had half the confidence of Curry, he would be a dangerous player in this league.

SpursTalk, where a guy who scores 22 points in 23 minutes on 82% shooting off the bench is getting way too many minutes.

No need to meltdown. A preseason game. Spurs vets were too lazy to play defense.

Our defense is going to suffer quite a bit this season after losing Kawhitter, Danny, and now Dejounte along with another long, LW 4, who should turn out to be a good defensive player. We should be fairly good in the paint but, the wings/guards & SF is where we are weak. Maybe Pop, can work some magic but, it hasn't worked on Patty or Forbes. We shall see.

We got LW4 back in 2 months. Also Huestis is a elite wing defender, out for maybe a month. Then maybe you can use Metu as a SF defender.

I kind of expected Cunningham to be that defender, but it seems that he's got feet of lead.

I didn’t like Derozan as a building piece and the Spurs got hosed in that trade.
I have accepted it now but didn’t like it. Wait until the paper tiger gets stifled in the playoffs and the choking starts. (If they make the playoffs...)

PATFO had no choice and took the best deal available.

DeRozan has bad shot selection, but he's the only player that can seem to penetrate and dish. Parker and Manu did that for the Spurs, DeRozan may be the only one who could do that now. Actually, White has some skill in that too. DeRozan still needs to figure it out, but he's got some natural talent and just needs a more disciplined approach.

I wouldn't really expect that, as he is a raw rookie that still isn't sure when to hedge or when to play ice as a big man.

That being said, if I were him, I would be trying like to get some reps with Gay and DeRozan after practice. Strong wing defense and rebounding is his clearest path to playing time on the roster right now, especially considering his slight build.

That's the only real niche he can fill in the NBA. I doubt he can add extra weight on that small frame of his.

Main reason I was disappointed that we didn't get OG because of how much perimeter defense we lost in Kawhi/Green.

You and everyone else, Ace. It just seems like with Green, Leonard, OG and Siakam that Toronto has an embarrassment of riches there while SA has nothing. Poeltl just feels like odd compensation. Toronto should have preferred to keep him. SA should have preferred someone else instead. The team already had a young big waiting to come over and had just drafted a second one they were high on. They NEEDED a defensive forward like they needed air.

You can say that more so now that Murray and Walker are out. But what happens to our defense if we dont have Poeltl and lose Aldridge to injury? Our defense would've fallen off a cliff. Poeltl might have not shown it yet but he would be a good replacement for Aldridge.

Also consider albeit weird fittings our perimeter depth is better than our interior one especially when you consider Gasol and Aldridge's age. They were more prone to missing a few games this year.

Toronto also had Ibaka and Valaciunas. Poeltl was expandable for them but was still one of their best bench players. Almost split minutes with Valaciunas.

Yes, assuming that all of Murray, Walker and Aldridge are out, the team would struggle defensively. That's the case whether they have Poeltl or any other player from Toronto. Just too many missing bodies. I'd rather have OG and Milutinov than just Poe though. Hoping seriously Jakob makes me eat those words.

I'm a little surprised concerning Dante. Hopefully he can get that lead out. Really a shame about Dejounte. He was looking good. And if Lonnie can learn from the sideline while he heals he may get some good minutes from Pop at certain points in the season. While DJ and LW 4 are out I hope Derrick cam really show that he can be a consistent contributor.

I dunno if they're calling it anymore; but that two-hand dribble by DeRozan at the start is a double dribble.

Two seconds left and the PG is off the guy with the ball? Spurs deserve to lose; just glad it's only preseason.

I don’t know Pop has never been good to young bigs they take minimum of one year to figure out defense amd
offense positions. But I too would have loved OG and bring over Nikola.

It does look like a carry. Actually on the play where Walker got hurt, it looked to have carried as well.
