Sure there would be challenges. I've thought of that particular one already which could have many solutions. There are obviously many challenges I haven't even considered. Because I haven't thought of a very exhaustive list. That being said I like the upside of a split. The country is becoming extremely polarized. Remaining United doesn't make long term sense.

off the top of my head, create a program;
1)You seek asylum
2) You get processed, background ck for crimes,gang affil,etc...
3) You qualify, we put you to work. 10 yr contract 12-15 pr hr. We use this as a force to clean our country, perform the labor work for infrastructure, make america spit-shiny clean and new. New roads,bridges,etc.
4) Percentage of your paycheck goes to your country of origin
5) After 10 years - you must return to your country for at least -5-6 years and try to make your life better
with your earned wages from here
6) You can apply to stay here - but must first return to your country for a set time until papers approved or you succeed at home of origin.
7) Only responsible birth control while you are here. If you can agree to BC for the 10 years you qualify.
Im sure a lot of that can be proven to fail but off the top of my head I would much rather put these people to work to beautify the USA instead of demonizing people who are fleeing in terror for their lives.
Smarter folks than I could think of a better program I'm sure.

I agree , this is why the idea of a 10 year contract and a date of return to their country and a program to deduct pay to send home but only if that portion is used as a plan for their return home.
They will come regardless and will send earnings home regardless, I would just rather they contribute to their country so their country will appeal to them and they will long for and hopefully return there.
Some will want to stay and at least they will be screened productive law abiding workers as MOST of them already are.
This way racists will be able to sleep at night.
