The conventional media story is that this caravan is just fleeing systemic poverty and crime. So who thinks we should just let the caravan in?
The media tells us that the caravan is entirely made up of smart, ethical, hard working people who just want a better life.
If Central America only produces smart, ethical, hard working people, then why are they leaving Central America to come here?

you left out political violence. you must not be too familiar with what's been going on in Honduras and Nicaragua.

the caravan just like the other caravans years before will walk up directly to the border entry and line up to apply for refugee status. From then on the US legal system would take over.

There are roughly 15 million people in Honduras and Nicaragua that could claim the same thing. Should we let them all in?

there might be urgent reasons to physically leave the countries of origin and actually, you have no idea how many people in the caravan did seek help at US embassies.
if you're really concerned about illegal immigration, you should pay more attention to people who come here on planes with valid visas, than the swarthy horde slowly moving in this direction.
I am too, but this mob isn't it. I'm all for background checks, green cards, and a path to citizenship for the good ones along with mandatory employer e-verify. No do ents, no work.
it is one hundred percent legal under US law to present yourself at any border or any US embassy to ask for asylum, no matter how you entered the country.
if you don't like it you should ask Trump and the majority Republican US Congress to change the law.

They need the house and 60 in the Senate to get anything done. Trumps offer a few months ago was a good start and the Democrats on it because it included increased border security.

Plus, "wanting a better economic life" is not a valid asylum issue.
We should open the borders to the billions of others that want to "seek a better life" while we are at it.
It's too valuable as a democratic football to ever resolve it.
the applicants get to speak for themselves, and US officials decide whether what they say is believable.

have to have security guards to watch your house when you leave. but it is what it is
there is no reason if they get rid of corruption they could not be a much richer country
if they do not change when the get to the usa soil the usa will be just like their country
literally no one -- besides a few lonely anarcho-capitalists -- is for that.
