These are 2 guys that should never be on the floor together. Mills can't defend anyone and Gasol is just too old for help side defense. It's always a catastrophe when they are together. I always thought Mills and Dedmond had great chemistry. It's just things that I'll never understand about Popovich. Either he is tanking or he's delusional in believing he's that great of a coach with his bull lineups and the team he's built.. It's one of the 2.

only in spurstalk can find positive value in Pau Gasol 2017/2018 while the rest of the league does not even want to see this type of player on his roster (regardless of the way the game is played today, he is no longer able to be a basketball player)

Glad it took you and others 4 years to realize how bad Mills is.

This team needs to keep losing and Pop needs to hang it up.

I dont care how many nice high/low passes Gasol feeds LMA. We can get the ball down low with other passers that add value in other ways TOO

I think Pop believes in his system too much.
He has more than 20 years of success including 5 rings, it's reasonable to believe. In these years the way the team plays has changed several times so I won't say the system is the problem. I'd say, by importance order: Leonard's bolt and forced trade + a few wrong offseason moves + key injuries + ruling changes = team in this situation. However, it's still early to define this season. Let's give the team the chance of improving and then another chance for PATFO to rectify in winter.

For the ones believing in this organization, there is no reason yet to stop doing it. For the ones that weren't recognizing the good work done by the franchise during more than 20 years, this is new and they are panicking. It's an understandable millennial behavior.

We can't be contenders forever and, in order to be again in that position, there are things more important than having a 35 wins season instead of a 45W season.

And yeah, of course, Mills and Gasol aren't helping now. That's crystal clear.

people really believe that Pau is important because of the only thing he occasionally does well on the court, as if Aldridge really needed that kind of play to be effective

I dont think Pop is in love with them, i think its more the opposite, but SPURS do not have a better alternative, to be able to produce now on a consistent basis.
playing time goes to the guys who make the most cheese.

Draft picks are extremely uncertain, no matter how they look on paper. And I don't think tanking will help attract the midlevel free agents the Spurs need. The Spurs need average NBA players at various positions more than they need stars, to help this team now.

If you tank, players around the league will notice, and have no interest coming here to help the 2nd half of the season. Then you're totally reliant on what you can draft, for next season. The 76ers come to mind. Unless the draft is very very lucky the Spurs could be crippled for years.

All we do is hold Pop to the same standard he holds his players to. He wants his players to play perfect. We want Pop to be as close to perfection as possible. And he clearly makes way to many mistakes which are super obvious to anybody with a pair of eyes

Wrong. They can just sit patty on bench and play Belli or Forbes more in his slot then when Lonnie and injured Colorado buffaloe comes back patty should be sent to Austin. Let this sink in Gasol and fatty take up almost one third of the Spurs entire cap space. Why because both suck off senile hack.
