98 pitches as a reliever after pitching a good amount in both the first two games. Guess he could play a possible game 7? But he's done unless we get that far.

Yeah. Had to de-stress a bit. Never seen anything like this game. How does Betts go 0-7? How do two high powered offense only score 5 runs between them in 18 innings?

It's also gonna be funny to hear (I won't listen, though) shallow jackasses like Cowherd, and the rest of the talking heads on those hot take shows say this game is why baseball needs a tie breaker if the game is tied after the 12th inning or something. This game was amazing. Was it tedious at times? Sure. But it wasn't contrived, and why baseball remains the most dramatically dynamic sport there is. Never know if you're gonna get a 10-9 slugfest that ends in the 9th or a 3-2 18 inning game. Now I wouldn't ask for many more games like this, but it's cool it happened.

The risk is if you mess up the game is essentially over, while the reward is an out. You throw to first you get the out unless someone s their pants. In late game situations with runners on first and second getting an out is top priority; they even coach kids in this situation that the third baseman's responsibility is to play off the bag to ensure if the ball gets past the pitcher they're ready to field it and get the out at first. The pitcher fielding it to the third baseman who is unaccustomed to making bang-bang plays like a first baseman is generally too risky; in this situation it wasn't as risky since Machado is an elite defensive third baseman (or was, haven't watched much of him lately).

It would've been all over the way he was pitching anyways. He wasn't recovering from 2nd and 3rd and an out the way he was pitching. That was a momentum changing play; the risk is nothing when you realize it's the difference between a W and an L. I knew he was going to third the second it was bunted.

I understand why Dodgers are known for trying to hit home runs all the time. This Stadium is massive.

Reminds me of the old mets stadium. Sometimes is just easier to hit for home runs instead of getting a hit here and there.
