the a&m achilles heel all season long has been their secondary but it wasn't as apparent over the past couple of games because kentucky is a horrible passing team and SC is not much better. credit to the Mississippi State coaching staff to create a game plan predicated on attacking the secondary. oddly enough, the a&m defense was ranked 2nd in the nation on 3rd down conversions, primarily because they are good against the run (and thus, good on 3rd and short). the bulldogs were great on 3rd and long because they picked up blitzes and attacked the secondary. there's a big reason that a&m has made the secondary such a priority in recruiting. the offense had its worst game of the season. dropped passes, penalties, miscues...it was as if the bye week was wasted other than getting healthy. in that respect, i'd say the same was true of UT. the bye week seemed to hurt them as they were incredibly sloppy and made OSU look a lot better than they actually are. the state of texas football is really, really bad-once again.
