losing kawhi is a , means spurs will have to look through the draft to develop one, or some untapped potential FA
just like how the spurs wasted years looking for a backup pg through the draft, when they could easily find a vet pg or some scrub just to handle the rock...but no, they had to waste like 3 years of draft picks looking for that backup pg...
imo why didnt they bring hanga over, instead go waste minimum contracts on cunngham and podexter...it was fkn stupid of patfo to get rid the perimeter and not replace them with anyone but hoping the young rookies can take over and offensive minded chuckers to play some form of defense...
They weren't looking for a backup PG in the draft, they were looking for starting potential guards. It's a guard-heavy league right now, and PG is the most important position after SF. Kawhi; we're back to digging for a starter in that slot. But Walker, White, and Murray are all decent picks where they went and could form a strong guard corps.
The reason they didn't bring over Hanga is because he sucks.

I feel Murray is that defensive stopper but needs to drill those 3’s consistently to become 3nD or Pippen to Demar. He’ll have ball handling duties. But Demar will remain a point foward/combo guard. I don’t think Pop would change that when Murray’s back. Demar has been doing a great job. The pressure is on Murray to develop his shooting skills or his out of the 1st unit. He would need to space up Demar and LA to keep that role.
Murray is not a defensive stopper any more than Draymond Green is. He doesn't remove the need for an impact defensive wing. Maybe Walker can be that. Even if Lonnie can, you want a combo-forward to be that final starter who can actually defend a James or Durant. We're talking somewhere between Bowen and Splitter.

I got Payton right above Leonard all time as perimeter defenders. Moncrief isn't far behind. This thread is funny though. Kawhi is so much more better than Derozan that it's funny. Toronto isn't missing him. He's our guy and I gotta cheer for him and he's a good player, but you guys are ing crazy.
