Kawhi’s recent comments in an interview when asked about the city of Toronto reconfirms that I still think he’s gone to LA next season. He said:

I watched the Toronto game yesterday. You can tell the Raptors players like the fact that he's so good, but know he's a temporary rental then off to whatever market he favors. You can see how they pick him up off the ground, versus how they do the same with Lowry. Like the hometown son versus the honorable visitor. It's obvious he's trying to put up MVP numbers to get his contract then bounce.

they fix kawhis jumpshot, they even made him play defense..even though it took 3-4yrs to develop him...the process was worth the wait after seeing each seasons incremental increases of his stats...
remember pop rarely plays rookies let alone sophos, kawhi jump the pecking order of the roster very quick, given that it wasnt anything worth mentioning like rj/green/jax

Kind of make sense. Pop was probably trying to make him something he's not, like asking him to be a leader, play the pick and roll etc. He's on the record for doing that to LMA. Also falls in line with him letting DD do his thing. But in Toronto, he's playing off the ball more. He's not really being asked to be a playmaker. He's got the vocal leader and playmaker in Lowry, so he can just do his thing in the background.

Honestly, I think it was a good trade for both sides as far as fit goes. We got what we wanted Kawhi to be in DD and they got what they needed. Too early to say who won the trade, depending on if Kawhi leaves or who we get with the first. But I'm starting to be really thankful they took this trade. We'd be in the lottery if we took packages centering around Ingram, Tatum, or Fultz LOL. Just wish we could've got Siakim somehow instead of Poeltl and not given up Danny.

They can compete with Golden State when at full strength as well. Meanwhile, LeBron tells magic not to give up their young assets and now he’s seeing that the western conference isn’t a cake walk .

I don't know about that. Coach Bud has Milwaukee looking like a serious contender(in the East). Milwaukee is like a clone off Toronto. They are both really deep and can play both sides of the ball. That's gonna be a of a series if they play. Boston is still figuring things out... Philly is missing a wing tho. They need a star 3. Kawhi would've been perfect for them. But the East is open IMO.

That's what I've noticed to about the spurs over the years. They never take full advantage of mismatches and ride the hot hands. Pop always subs em them out and the other team comes back. It probably costed em a chip or 2 but it goes in line with pop's " it wouldn't be fair to the other guys" mantra. It seems to me that pop at times cared more about keeping his control over the team and winning his way than actually going balls out and wining the simple way by letting players with the mismatches win it.
