I wonder if Parker can do enough in Charlotte to improve his all time rank? To be able to show he's not system player might move some minds
How can a guy who finishes from literally impossible angles be a system player?

I'm talking in the earliest era. When people talk about Parker the cite playing with Tim and beinga reason to place him behinda guy like nash who was obviously the number one for Phoenix. The truth is obviously Parker had pops system depress his assist numbers for many years. If Parker can establish he doesn't need pop or Duncan it should improve his hall of fame case

Never understood the TP hate. He had/has game. Did everything asked of him. I bet the front office wishes they had parted with Patty versus Parker. He was offered a deal, but a very small role. Parker knew he could still offer way more than a 3rd string PG.

PATFO from top to bottom love themselves some Patty. Danny would get benched and screamed at after one defensive mistake, yet this fatass is allowed to run to the other side of the court when the team is still defending.

They made him the centerpiece of the HEB commercials.
    these are facts... /sigh

would love HOFer TP over Mills. When was the last contract PATFO got correct with Parker. I guess they figured he got his loyalty contract, time to be player-coach and support the team. TP wants to play til he's 40, wanted none of that. Some folks hate on TP just cos he is French and has an ego. Well who can blame him. Always liked TP and I'm happy for him having some nice games in Charlotte. Watching Patty is a disservice to my eyes.

Just watched his highlights. Seems he has a lot more freedom to play his game with the Hornets. Showed some really good penetrating moves i haven't seen him display in a while! His last points where on a very deep 3, impressive.

That is true with every negative thing on these boards though!

I had always thought that he would bounce back this year. Parker was coming off a major injury last year and only played half the season plus he was a backup and didn't get enough playing time to get in a groove. He was on fire before he went down with that injury. Players tend to need at least 1 full year to feel 100% after an injury like that. Rudy said he just now feels 100% this year from his injury (different type) and i think his injury was the same year as Parker's (just way earlier in the season).

You know Mills has reached untouchable, jersey in the rafters one day, captain of the team status when he's allowed to flop around on the other end of the court while his teammates are still defending as Pop looks on biting his tongue.

Of course. They only root for him once he's gone lol.

Also, last season he was still recovering from his injury + all the nonsense happening with Kawhi, the team never could get into a groove. I'm glad he's healthy and playing well tho. No one could've predicted our starting/backup PG would be out to start the year tho.

Tony didn't want to be here and compete for his spot. The offer to be player coach was made considering he would have Murray and White before him.
Had he chosen to be up for the challenge he would be starting here

10.8 pt, 4.5 ass, 1.3 to in 18 min at 48%... That's 21.6 and 9 per 36 min. And peeps in Charlotte can't stress enough his leadership and vet influence on Kemba and the team.

Story of TP's career... making doubters shut up.

Great signing for once by the hornies tbh.

Was on Hornets Reddit (yes I know, Reddit, just wasn't sure if they even had a forum) and they absolutely love Tony. Some poster said he was god sent lol...

I've watched some of their games on stream and he looks like a completely different player. He's no longer forced to sit in the corner or force feed post ups. He's taken a leader/general role with their second unit and is always letting their young players (MKG, Monk, Bridges, Hernangomez) know where to be. He's averaging 21 & 9 per36 and his efficiency and Ast:TO is great.

He just seems genuinely happy to play ball again. Hope they make the playoffs but it will be tough with Zeller, Marvin Williams, Jeremy lamb, and a washed Batum starting.

Good to see Twitter appreciate him again for a change, unlike the re illegals on this fan base. That gay dude Quixem comes to mind, he had an offseason wishlist that had letting Tony walk.

If he had known Murray would get hurt like that he definitely would.

Endurance is a part of this compe ion, maybe he thought Murray could beat him at that too, you never know.
I think we all knew that Tony could beat Patty for the spot, I think a good thing to view all this is to think that Tony believed that Murray and White would be very good players and that it would be hard for him to outplay both of them. Which is a great compliment from Tony to our younger guys.
I also believe that he knew in advance that Manu was leaning towards retirement and that influenced him about deciding to leave, same way as Manu decided knowing Tony wouldn't be here. After all they were also good friends.

Has everybody forgotten? There wasn't any point guard compe ion. The Spurs decided to go younger, with Murray as the starter, especially with Parker's injury history the last few years. It's nice to see Parker doing well, in some games, but he is very very close to the end of his career.

I hope the Hornets make the playoffs. He keeps talking about keeping his playoff streak alive. I think the Hornet fans are beginning to warm up to Parker. Yeah he's old, but he's still serviceable when healthy. High BBall IQ.

Good point. He prolly knew Manu was gone and needed a new challenge, something to prove, which he all has in SA. Wasn't seeing himself alone, not as a key player after all is done.

Better keep a great image of TP as a spur than seeng him warm the bench. East is lighter in great PGs too and he already had complicity with Borrego. Add a good friend in Batum + a nice contract and charlotte made a lot of sense.

What’s interesting is Parker’s assist rate per minute. I think Spurs style over the years with emphasis on ball movement and all Parker’s hockey assists held down his assist numbers.
tp9 always said he was shoot-first gurad

Another low key great game by Tony, 2 clutch baskets to seal the win agains Boston, played the entire 4th quarter. Played within himself, made great passes and scored the ball when his team need it most. If only Spurs had someone like him in their roster...
