So are the spurs saving the last 2way contract to Josh Huestis?
That roster is very devoid of talent
So are the spurs saving the last 2way contract to Josh Huestis?
Yes.
TBD
Apparently they are but he will not be available until late December at the earliest and coming from a Jones fracture I figure not until January, after a few GLeague games will they get a real perspective on how he's healed. Bc t the team needs help now, I don't take it for granted that he's the man. Someone else may become interesting in the GLeague instead.
Huestis could take Poindexter spot. The other two way needs to be a defensive minded point guard...NOW! I love Forbes and Mills effort but it's not really getting it done.
Opening night roster:
Yep, shuffling of the guards. Will be interesting if anyone else can play the point besides Ledbetter. There will probably be some additions from the player pool in the coming weeks. Still no sign on Johnson.
Still don't know why the Spurs have got Blair in the organization again. Is this a way of evaluating if he's still an NBA player without using a slot for the big club? Or do they somehow imagine he'll be a wise old veteran to help the young ones learn what it means to be a pro?
Weird.
Vets are always good to have around and won't step on young guys like Metu or Eubanks. I doubt they have any designs on his playing for the mothership, but giving him a chance to prove himself to other teams in a system he already knows is plenty.
Even though Blair is only two years older than Huestis.
Interesting that the SA Spurs has only one 'two-way' player.
Two 'local tryout' guys... maybe two new J.Simms
Wait.... what does 'Affiliate' mean under Josh Huestis?
Means Huestis signed an X-9 deal this off-season. When a guy with that kind of contract gets waived in camp, the waiving team's d-league affiliate gets dibs on signing him. Spurs waived him, Toros got to slot him in without a draft or competing with other d-league teams for his services. Affiliate contract.
I'm guessing it's just for appearances after the Kawhi debacle.
"See! We really care about our players as people first. That's why we're giving Blair another shot at his dream! Because we treat players right!"
Well, he's a case study in knee injuries.
I wonder if Blair pulled a Danny Green and begged to be given another chance? Pop has a soft spot for stuff like that.
It's a G-league slot. The Spurs aren't even paying Blair. Don't read too much into this

I think Blossomgame could easily do what Cunningham does. It's not like Cunningham is a good 3-point shooter and Blossomgame is stronger/more athletic.
With White looking so good, and Walker back relatively soon, it does make some sense to get a forward like Blossomgame on the team. In the very least, he can fill in for Pondexter. Quincy looks to be showing his new ceiling, which isn't as bad as I worried it would be but isn't good enough to keep him over a prospect.
Austin drops a game to the Memphis Hustle.

I didn't watch it but the Toros really have no good guards in that team it seems like.
Very similar to the big club, just missing the talent needed to compete in a certain position. For Austim, it is the point guard, for San Antonio it's the small forward.
Austin lost, White, Nick Johnson, Hilliard, ... is Hanlan even on the squad?? Ledbetter is a G league backup. Not a lot of good guard play for the Toros.
Yeah I was surprised we lost Nick he was a pretty good PG
Wow. Dajuan Blair is back with the Toros?
Indeed he is. He's even able to play some, despite his knees grinding away bone-on-bone.
