I posted the whole essay. If you actually read it, then there's not much else to discuss. It's not an essay about "black on black crime". It mentions it as one of the problems, along with senseless violence, racism and prejudice. You should take heed on the last couple of items.

There is more than one sentence on black on black crime. It is definitely a strong theme within the essay, both directly and indirectly.

The biggest problem with using that essay as a crutch (and it's not just this case, taking specific excerpts and focusing on them while ignoring the rest has come down to a science these days), is that you can make the case for racial crime much more solidly with actual numbers, and you don't have to subscribe to the rest of the message on the essay, which clearly you don't agree with, like racism and prejudice being pervasive in our society and whatever "Dr King's dream" idealistic society was supposed to be.
Same reasoning applies just the same for liberals jumping into the essay to point out gun violence while parsing out the racial connotations. That's why the whole thing from both sides come up as phony.
I mean, the child could also be promoting popping a cap on yo ass... it's a good, positive message, worthy of highlighting, IMO.
