I remember when this story broke, I said to the folks watching it with me that it was messed up. The news was framing it as a mass shooting and the cop as some hero. But it looked to me to be a conflict that didn't have to end the way it did. I mean, I didn't know all these details, but I don't think you can have officers just killing folks on the spot like this. The cops need to take more responsibility for their lapses in judgment. There really shouldn't be second chances when you have wrongful death cases. Like fine, you don't always have to go to jail, but you should at least lose your job. It's not too much to ask.
