Think about that article about Bruce Bowen getting "fired" for speaking his mind.
Or trading your premier defenders for DeMar and a ing big man when Toronto is stacked with wings

Agreed. He has started believing his own shtick about the system.
good point K
He has not shown willingness to adapt, and he insists on shooting those 18-foot turnaround fade-aways - the most inefficient shot in the game. He is not mobile for a modern big man, his game is antiquated, and his at ude stinks unless he gets his touches - which have been a total waste this season. The game has passed both him and Pop by, and the Spurs need to move on from both. Overdue, in fact.
Oh, and he has a salary that the team cannot afford for somebody in Pau's role.
I think it was one of my faves HarlemHeat37 that used to call him the Big Man Carmelo. He is more useful than Melo bc he still played defense but right now he's not looking all that good.
He was inefficient back in Portland, which is why some of us didn't want us to sign him in the first place. "Inefficient" and "unathletic" are not adjectives you want to describe your team's "stars".
Well to him Spurs added Derozan, who I wasn't a fan of, bc I generally dislike glass cannons and I am more forgiving of flawed guys who played defense, and Derozan will also be choking in the playoffs to boot. Frankly I don't know why some fans want to see this show in the playoffs, but here we are.
Exactly, Pop is only concerned about the short term; he wouldn't be around long enough to see a deal pan out like we could have gotten from the Clips, so we end up with another mid-range guy who can't play D. Pop's interests and those of the organization are no longer very well aligned, and Pop is making moves in his interest more than the Spurs'.
The lineup to start the second by pop was the kiss of death for the spurs. Interchange Bryn, demar and dante between marco patti and davis. It went from a 4 point game to 23 by the half

this
anyone who really believes that this roster can win 41 games is delirious (with all respect)
bad roster construction and lack of talent (and some poster actually laughed when I said that the nets who had no picks and future in less than three seasons have a roster with more talent and better built than ours), people keep talking about motivation, when it is clear that the team players do not have the physical or technical conditions to be compe ive
I really hope you're right. The problem is Pop wont realize this and unless he aids in the tank such a record isn't far fetched especially given DeRozan & LMA's ability to show up every other game.
DPG really, REALLY doesn't want to believe that this team is just bad.
Does anyone want a game thread for raptors vs warriors? Let's not fight it. With the Spurs sucking, the San Antonio raptors should be elevated as the main franchise reppee by this forum.
Yeah. Professional leagues, their sponsors, their broadcasters, and the media that covers them are all a racket, in the sense that there is no real independence to objectively evaluate those leagues and their individual members. The NBA is no worse than the NFL, really.
LDN is still LDN. But Kawhi is ing Judas, tbh. the Raptors.
Good One!
Well, as bad as things are now, I do not believe this is the real version of this team. They obviously may not reach their ceiling but they aren’t even playing at their average.
I know the roster has flaws and pointed them out numerous times; however I didn’t see things being this rocky. We shall see
Deeps what did you think was going to happen when literally their only competent wing defender went out for the season? When the front office refused to make any other 3 & D additions besides Quincy Pondexter and Dante Cunningham?
Did you really think Pop would get them to top 15 D status?
I thought the offensive gains would be enough to sustain. There are a lot of poor defensive teams; always is. I figured SA would be compe ive most nights because they have some legit talent with LMA/DeRozan
Fair enough and you were right for the first 8 games. But I thought the roster construction was absolutely terrible even with all the Kawhi BS. And I really, really think that Pop has done a very poor job of maximizing any talent that he does have on the roster so far tbh.
I’m trying hard not to judge SA on this season. They were in a tough spot and had to do things quickly and without proper planning. Clock is ticking towards the trade deadline however; if this team doesn’t improve SA has to take a hard look at things. But this next off season will be critical as they will at least know what they have.
