bye POP A ZIT
What the Spurs did there was to play passing ball - that's all - 3 balls were just a consequence of playing passing ball first
bye POP A ZIT
I mentioned Pop has been mailing it in since 2016 more or less (don't want to look up/bump the thread)... that said, the NBA is turning into beisbol, tbh, sport for the casuals and basically an excuse to hit Whataburger...
End thread.
End SPURSTALk
End SPURS
End POP
End it all...
#DYNASTY OVER

BIG 3 are no
BIG NOTHING...
couldnt adapt
couldnt adapt to younger players
fail
yet continues to blame everyone but himself and patfo not adapting
remember when we all wanted change, especially the youth movement?...well how did that turn out in the last 2-3years...develoop them then got rid of them for peanuts, cause to busy keeping pos vets on the team happy with loyalty contracts, while up and coming younger players were shown the lowball contract offers
KAWHI NEVER LOVED SAN ANTONIO
calm down, my man... it's just basketball...
Ive been watching bball since 95' when i was 7 years old, and to me the golden age of nba basketball was the 90's and 00's. Now adays it just seems seems like a 3 point chuck fest with some so so inside game game here n there, sprinkled with a dunk at times and some mid range shots. There's a lot less physical play, acrobatic layups, ferocious put back dunks, defensive fought close games, etc. People are a lot less rowdy about about it or interested in the games(unless its close) in the buffalo wild wings/hooters bar scene from what I've experienced during the last 5 years.
this is my main issue with him. He only wants players who listen to him 100%. So this show right now is on him more than on anybody else
pop needs to move on...the game has left him behind...he cares much more about the personalities than the game...which is why he will always overpay mills and gasol to keep them around...as long as pop is here, those two WILL retire as spurs...and that's unfortunate because anyone with eyes can see they are absolute ass
It's very Doc Rivers-esque behavior, tbh. Nothing is ever his fault, there's always an excuse, he'll even contradict his own past opinions and count on the media not to notice. Poop went from relying on the three to beat the Heat in 2014, to now whining about how three-pointers aren't "real basketball" now that he has a ty team built around two fake stars who can't make them.
I agree with him. This basketball sucks. They neutered the big men and took away all defense.
Pop blamed himself for how "discombobulated" the offense has been. Don't know what you assholes want him to say...
And to say that Pop relied on the 3 to win is short sighted--it took more than just jacking up 3's to be the Heatles...
It does make me think. I wonder how 90's big men would have done in todays NBA. Players who play mostly within 15ft from the paint.
Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Karl Malone, Shaq, Dennis Rodman, Charles Barkley, Dikembe, etc.
Shaq would have to be guarding players at the 3pt line. Rodman would probably get ejected every game. Ewing and Robinson would be known as outdated mid range chuckers. Although Robinsons athleticism would fit quite nice.
Tough hard nosed players that stay in the paint are rare now adays. I would say Draymond Green might fit that category but his go to move is a foot to the crotch. Rodman would have kicked the crap out of him if he tried that on him lol
Now we have what? Rudy Gobert, Karl Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, Porzingis. out of those, i would say Rudy Gobert is like a 90's big man. doesn't take 3's. but not sure how much of a tough player he is. I do know his defense is pretty good though.
Anyways, it is definitely a different game whether we like it or not
90's big men would be dominating with all the small ball lineups. Can you imagine if Shaq had 6-7 guys defending him. It would be BBQ chicken. Small ball doesn't work if you're getting outrebounded or crushed on the glass. It's the lack of skilled big man that can operate in the post that's created this opening for small ball to take over.
Got one more year of Poop at max
Case in point, tonight's 131-188 win over Portland -- the Spurs were 11-15 from three.
Arguably, nothing else much changed from their recent losses . . .

Uhhh he’s been saying this for years now. So no he hasn’t ever embraced it not even in 2014.
It's quite evident when you play pick-up ball. The lack of post-play is disturbing. Teams chucking up three straight threes, 5 seconds into the shot clock has not been uncommon. Definitely different than the grind-it-out, playground days in the past.
Almost as if it's gotten soft. Pop has a point.
you dip
They didn't build it for a 20 game season either.
You think this roster is doing something this year, fat hands?
I agree. He will leave soon..
You think they're going to finish in the exact same position they are right now?![]()
Last year Kawhi played in 9 games and we did significantly better. How do you account for that?
