That to me is the biggest concern that Derozan could be already checked out while I feel Kemba would still be giving it his all. Kemba is used to playing on ty teams so the losing wouldn't get to him like it is to Demar. Also Kemba would be more motivated to play at a high level simply because he's a FA this coming summer. I think another plus possibly could have been that LMA would have played better with Kemba. The only high volume offensive player that LMA has ever played well with is Lillard. Kemba is similar player to Lillard just not as talented. Also Kemba has experience playing with a big man similar to LMA in Al Jefferson. Jefferson's last great season came from playing with Kemba. I have a feeling Kemba would have known how to utilize LMA and get him involved offensively. Obviously not making excuses for LMA playing like and not caring anymore but I feel Kemba would have been a better fit for him.
I didn’t think of that. It’s possible that with Walker, we’d unlock a different side of LMA. One has to wonder. I hate that we’re talking about this 20 games in

is exactly that, he should not have to be the playmaker, scorer and still have to defend the best perimeter player (he is not Kawhi, and even Kawhi had a better 3x team at his side), he already seems exhausted physically and emotionally (which is even worse)
He’s no Kawhi, but I think he’s definitely worth bending backwards for. Help the man out PATFO!!!

I follow the Hornets closely since I live in Charlotte. I remember hearing the story a few years ago in the Charlotte Observer of how Kemba recruited Jefferson to join the Hornets. Kemba told Al that he could bring the best out of him and would make it easier for him to open up his game offensively. Kemba also made the effort to work with Al to find ways to get him involved offensively. I have a feeling he would have done the same with LMA and it probably would have motivated LMA to play harder.

It's deeper than just getting DM. This is all hypothetical. The Spurs could have kept Green without having to trade him with Kawhi. It's not guaranteed they would have kept Kyle but imagine if they did . In this scenario you have Kemba-Green-Kyle as the PG-SG-SF is a much better trio than the crap the Spurs have with Demar-Forbes-Cunningham. The Spurs are not a contender if they do the Kemba trade but in the scenario I mentioned at least they would have been easier to watch.

If you want the honest answer? No. I remember at the time I didn't want that. Truth is, I didn't want to trade Kawhi to begin with, but barring that, my favorite was Tatum and some Boston picks + filler. Apparently once Boston started playing really well, they took that trade off the table, so considering the options PATFO had in July when they made their trade, I am not sure I don't take Derozan, but I would NOT have included Danny, no way, and if I did, I wanted either Siakam or OJ. That was non-negotiable. Otherwise make him play like Jimmy Butler this season and field trades during the season.
I mostly agree. However, I strongly preferred the Clips rumored deal that included two lotto picks. But I really do not understand this board's preoccupation/obsession with Kemba. I guess it has just been ingrained in some to like short players.

DeRozan seems uninterested. Or tired already. When he first got here, he was bought in and looked better offensively than Kawhi. No excuses, needs to be playing all out but I wonder if his interest is already waning. He can’t do it all on his own. I still think “DeFrozen” can be who we thought he was, or who he was the first few games. I’d be tired of dragging these carcasses with me too if I had his talent on a team like this. The man’s surrounded by dead weight!
Very true, it seems all our star players l come in here lately and get a feel for this Spurs roster and are like "Nope!" It's hard to stay motivated when your surrounded by scrubs that you have to wear yourself down having to carry them. Yet there are still those that think the Spurs FO can do no wrong.

The only successful big name free agent that signed with Spurs and worked out is Findog only.

He might be depressed and it shows in his play.
The realization he's not playing with a stacked team with elite roleplayers, athletes, and defenders, as he had in the Raptors, must hit him like a cold shower, with ice on top.
He's seeing the Raptors finally get respect. And he may also be seeing why Kawhi wanted out, every time Mills steps on the floor.

I was hoping for Dejounte, Patty, and 18 for Kemba back when his value was at an all time low. I'm sure RC would have throw in another 10mil too.

But the Spurs were obviously high on Dejounte and Borrego knows how worthless Mills is, not sure if Pop/RC could have buttered MJ up enough to get him to pull the trigger.

Oh well, Kemba being coached by this season's Pop would have nowhere near the success that Borrego has been able to get out of him so far anyways.....

Not much difference between DeRozan and Kemba tbh. Kemba is a better shooter I suppose but both play the same style. It wouldn't help with Aldrige and his struggles and the lack of a true SF which are the real problems we have rn.

Spurs would've been fine had they not included Green instead of Gasol at the last minute. Green would've helped solve a lot of the defensive issues and keep someone like Cunningham off the court.

No they can do wrong. I’ve been a fan and trusting of the FO for awhile but it’s like they’re going through the motions as much as our current stars are. Save for a few hot streaks, Belli wasn’t fantastic the first time around, why give him another shot???

Wasn't Aldridge the first time they got a allstar who was close to his prime. RJ also comes to mind but he was an almost allstar. Findog was starting to decline when he got here.

Could have made a better team had they done that trade. Could have made one too had they just not ed up the rest of the off-season, though.

DDR is not the problem. The problem is how the team is put together full of 2nd and 3rd string guards, and no one with a clue on how to play defense.
