I was honestly shocked at his shot form when he returned. It’s like he makes every shot harder than it has to be. Every time he comes Off of a screen, he’s shooting Before his feet are set, and While still moving sideways.
Not just his form, but also his aggressiveness.
He is the definition of forcing shots. I first noticed it in preseason and thought, "Well, maybe he's just trying to get shots up and round into form".
20 games in, and things haven't changed much. He is letting in fly at every opportunity, even if it's not an opportune one...and the results haven't been great. It's one thing if he is actually hitting those shots, but if not...he needs to play within himself.
Beli was perfect with the Beautiful Game teams because there wasn't much expected of him, even though he played a lot of minutes. Run the offense, move without the ball, pass up a good shot for a great shot, and shoot open threes...that was his focus.
Now, I have a feeling that the coaching staff are trying to fit him into that Manu spot of being a scorer off the bench. Sadly, I don't think Marco has that in him anymore. He is shooting bad shots before they even have a chance to go from good to great.
I mean he can't really get his shot off otherwise. Thats who he is. The real problem is him being on the team period. Complete waste of the MLE.
No beautiful game to get him open looks.
What makes matters worse is he misses the wide open shots and then will hit a few difficult leaners ... so then it's difficult to tell what a good shot looks like for him.
Could've had LMAM instead, tbh.

When you practice and shoot in game circus shots like all those leaners and runners, it sometimes becomes uncomfortable when you shoot a regular shot. Sadly this has become the case for the broken down Ferrari

The Spurs offense is slightly worse with Belinelli on the court. Their defense is slightly better with him on the court (the bench as a whole has better defensive numbers). Added together, Belinelli's impact is very slightly positive ... but it's still too early in the season to take too much from plus/minus numbers.
I wouldn't believe in on-out stats that much.

While eye-test says he was our best player early in the season. In many cases I still trust more in what I watch in games than some stats.
But I would love to see some graphic about Belli shooting.

I really do not know why the Pop gave him the freedom to shoot every ing ball he gets, that's some Kobe level out there
he still makes these tough shots but what I hate is that he is missing most of the easy layups he gets from his good cuts
Most overrated role player of the past decade.
He had a much smaller role than people remember on that 14 team. Most of his minutes were burned during the many lopsided victories or few of the lopsided losses. In the meat of close games, he hardly sniffed the floor.
Again, fans overrate him and his contributions to the 14 team.
Marco played in 80 games that season, and played the 2nd most minutes on the team behind only Tim Duncan. He was the third leading scorer on the team behind Tim and Tony. You don't accomplish that by simply doing mop-up duty. He was also the Spurs leading marksmen from three, shooting .430 on the season.
Yes, his role rightfully shrunk in the playoffs when the rotations tightened up, but Beli was an integral part to that team winning 60 games, finishing 1st in the West and securing home court advantage which obviously paved the way to the championship. I have a hard time saying that is overrating him.

He was a big part of what made the Spurs great that year. He looks like an old man slinging up shots at the local gym this season, though.
I also him make a lot of big shots in the playoffs last year for Philly and some of them were just stupid bad shots like he takes here. Obviously the numbers are bad right now but there's reason for me to believe the law of averages will bring them up at some point this season. 20+ games in and the team still doesn't have much of an iden y and guys are struggling to play together and I think that's ok. Certain guys are starting to pick things up from earlier in the season (Mills/Poeltl/etc.) and I think others will soon enough.
