I;m as amazed as you are.
How about pro footballers/pro rasslin'?
Go ahead.
Do we really consider Zeus (Tiny Lister an actor)
Verne Gagne?
What was Beefcake in?
I;m as amazed as you are.
How about pro footballers/pro rasslin'?
Go ahead.
Lists are boring.
Do something else.
Go ahead~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~`
Santa with Muscles.
Gagne was in the original "The Wrestler" in 1974 as The Wrestler.
Zeus headlined 2 PPVs as a wrestler in 90 and 95. That's a wrestler.
Beefcake was also in Mr. Nanny as his Zodiac gimmick
Pavlov, I don't care how ya do it, just give me some pro footballers who were also rasslers. This thread is talking rasslin'. ok?
Talk rasslin'
Verne was in the WWF?
Zues being an actor played a wrestler.
And they turned it into a storyline that headlined a PPV and it was originally planned to do Zeus/Hogan at Wrestlemania 7 but he was so awful they pulled the plug on that pipe dream immediately.
5 years later WCW brought him in, ironically enough, with Jeep Swenson, and they were part of an 8 man team that lost to JUST Hogan and Savage.
But he's still considered a wrestler. If not, than you can't call all these wrestlers who acted in movies actors except the Rock. Bastista has only done 2 or so movies? He's not an actor?
C'mon, Rasin. Think son, ok?
I did talk wrestlers -- I don't know a lot about it but even I knew Piper and Ventura were in major motion pictures.
lolAvante~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
Verne absolutely wrestled some major main events for the WWWF in the 70s in MSG. He also participated in a Legends Battle Royal in the WWF in 87 that included guys like Thesz, Killer Kowalski and a load of golden age icons that hadn't ever been in a WWWF ring for the Paul Boesch retirement show the WWF ran for him in Houston.
C'mon Raisin, I thought you knew your rasslin.
Do you mean Bautista?
Geez, dude~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

OK. But doesn't change the fact Zeus was a wrestler. He main evented TWO PPVs in his part-time wrestling career. That would define him as a wrestler. It's subjective how "good" of a wrestler you think he was though based on talent, but he was trained to wrestle, he wrestled the top name in the industry at the time- twice.
I'm thinking Bau a has been in 13 movies because he has. He's without question an actor.
Tiny Lister had been in tons of movies, his Zues just anotherr part he played, he wasn't a wrestler, he played a wrestler. Think Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed.
I would need to see.....Tiny Lister an actor, pro wrestler.....
After a Google search....
Professional wrestling career
Yep, he was a legit wrestler.
delete

Who do you think is the all time greatest ever, Raisin? Judge on the following:
Work rate
Drawing ability
Impact
Promos
Longevity
Wow, that's tough.
There are so many legendary wrestlers out there.
While Dusty had the best rap,he didn't make the biggest impact.
Lou Thesz on the longevity but his promos (few I saw)...bland.
I know we debated impact before, I do have to go with Hogan because Joe Public who knows.....0...about the biz, knows about Hulk Hogan.
Shawn Michaels was a fantastic in ring worker.
Bruno in NY and al those Italians was a of a draw.
This ain't easy.
One guy who came closet to that total package, did I mention....wow...?
Ignore our resident spoiled brat Chucho, what ya got?
The best overall package is Flair.
Draw...yup, last true World's champ who made millions before guaranteed contracts. He was paid based on his draw power.
Promos...very few peers in that category. Maybe Dusty, Piper, Rock and Austin are arguably better.
Impact...he influenced an entire new generation using a gimmick tweaked from Gorgeous George and the name Buddy Rogers made famous and, like you said, there were multiple Nature Boys after Buddy Rogers and no one is talking about Buddy Landel who started using the moniker roughly the same time as Flair.
He's basically the innovator of the heel stable that the nWo, DX, and countless forgettable rip offs were patterned after.
Work rate...60 minute matches essentially every night for a 10 year run just shows how insanely good a worker he was. Insanely great matches with Dusty, Steamboat, Sting, Savage, Barry Windham, Funk and in his early 50s was turning in disgustingly brutal but entertaining hardcore matches with Foley and Big Show and an epic cage match with HHH that had everyone believing that old prick was gonna win his 17th le and could carry a wet turd to an entertaining match.
And which brings us to longevity. The man was an upper mid card to main even talent from about 77 til his first retirement in 08. Top guy for the NWA, WCW and was the only guy that was given the proper respect and push coming into WWF than anyone else including Dusty and Harley Race.
He was given the greatest retirement angle ever because only he deserved it. His retirement match encompassed all of the above- it was a main event match on the biggest show of the year with someone he directly influenced and the match was absolutely incredible and he gave an incredible, emotional promo right before heading to the ring.
Flair checks all the boxes and it's hard to find someone that matches up to him. If Austin's run on top was a few years longer, or if HBK was a better draw in his prime, they are about the closest I can think as I cant compare the Jap wrestlers to him as I cant fully absorb their promos even with sub les. I do think that Mitsaharu Misawa is the overall greatest in ring worker ever, but not the total package.
Cool to geek out on rassling once in awhile. Never watched a Star Wars movie in full or intentionally and most scientists fi "nerd" movies, love comic books but not super big into the movies, dont play a whole lot of video games and football is boring and a chore to watch and I dont get a lot of Spurs games on TV out here in the Central valley.
