One of my most disliked Spurs ever, but I'm sure he's going to have a hot streak at some point..he's not as bad as he has played, so far, I would expect him to hit 35%ish..

Marco played in 80 games that season, and played the 2nd most minutes on the team behind only Tim Duncan. He was the third leading scorer on the team behind Tim and Tony. You don't accomplish that by simply doing mop-up duty. He was also the Spurs leading marksmen from three, shooting .430 on the season.

Yes, his role rightfully shrunk in the playoffs when the rotations tightened up, but Beli was an integral part to that team winning 60 games, finishing 1st in the West and securing home court advantage which obviously paved the way to the championship. I have a hard time saying that is overrating him.
Where are you getting your stats from, son? Beli wasn't the third highest scorer, he wasn't even the 4th.

And in the playoffs he was reduced to a specialist role where he would only play in certain situations and against certain matchups. Belinelli was nothing special in 2014. Swap Belinelli with Gary Neal, Roger Mason or Bryn Forbes and the Spurs still ring.

    Not per game, total scoring.

Manu and Kawhi had higher averages but played less games.

When you say somebody is "the third highest scorer" everybody understands pts per game. The only reason to use that phrase when talking about totals is to try to make an argument sound better than it is, tbh.

He played 14 more games than Kawhi and 12 more than Ginobili, and only averaged one less Point Per Game than they did on the season. He was the guy on the floor keeping the ship on track when they were nursing injuries.

You are chasing pedantic points to try to prove that Marco wasn't an important player to the Spurs in '13-'14, when in reality, he was a big reason why the team was able to manage minutes, rest in 4th quarters, and overall...be ready for redemption against the Heat.

Gary Neal, Roger Mason or Bryn Forbes would have been equally as important as Belinelli in '14.

You have way no way to prove that.

The record shows that the Spurs never won a championship with Neal, Mason, or Forbes.

In fact, I seem to remember Neal choking in Game 6 and 7 of the Finals in '13 when he had a chance.

Do you really want to compare Neal to Belinelli?

In the exact same matchup, and the exact same role, Neal played 24.5 mpg and scored 10 ppg on 46% shooting from 3, whereas Belinelli was left off the rotation alltogether and only got spare minutes here and there.
