scored gold on all of them ... man it's been a while since i've grinded like that in a video game. i can actually go back to the story tbh

once i beat this with full completion, i'ma replay it once without wasting time on side missions. earlier this month they released a new, higher difficulty setting but also a New Play Plus feature, so im just gonna run through the story on max difficulty but with all my suits/abilities/gadgets carried over which eliminates need for side missions and token grinding.
I forgot to post it, but there is a flash sale on PSN good through tomorrow morning at 10PST I think. There isn't much I'd consider must buy. The Bioshock Collection at $14.99 is pretty good as is the Assassins Creed Ezio Collection for $14.99, but they're remasters of PS3/360 games and go on sale all the time. Flash Sales usually come on the next to last Friday of each month, but since that was Black Friday in November they did a Flash Sale starting last Friday instead. They also do new sales on Tuesdays, usually by about noon PST or so, and those last a week.

    https://store.playstation.com/en-us/...LASHSALE18LP/1

Sometimes the Flash Sales can be pretty good. This one mostly sucks though.

got platinum on spider man last night... i dont think im gonna pay for the DLC's for those additional trophies. from what i've read they aren't very good and are too short to be worth the buck. maybe they'll put all the DLC's on a collective sale at some point down the line. until then, the only additional trophies i'm going after is to complete the game on NG+ and to complete the game on ultimate difficulty, so i'm just gonna hit 2 birds with 1 stone on that. i just hate how there wasn't a trophy for getting gold on all taskmaster challenges.

then move onto either God of War or Horizon Zero Dawn

probably gonna hold off on Return to Arkham series since it will probably feel quite redundant with Spider Man

Monster Hunter World isn't bad. It's a great time killer. It's not Final Fantasy, so I don't know why the story is important. I bought it expecting to hunt monsters, and that's what it let me do.

That was fast. That easy of a platinum huh?

Go with God of War next.

a lot of them were just based on being completionist... ie collect all backpacks, pigeons, landmark photos, black cat stakeouts, research stations, etc etc. those are more tedious than difficult. but since swinging/traversal is do damn fun in this game, you honestly dont mind swinging all over the place just to collect . and then a lot of the other trophies were derivatives of being a completionist, such as unlocking all suits. this requires you to get a boatload of crime tokens, research tokens, and most notably the challenge tokens. if you wanted to unlock all the suits in one playthrough, you had to get gold on most taskmaster challenges or you simply wouldn't have enough, and your other option would have been to start a new game and use your challenge tokens specifically on the suits you hadn't already unlocked. if you're a completionist and grinded to get gold on all those challenges, you could get platinum on one playthrough.

the only difficult trophy was the Hidden Photo Ops, and there's really no way of knowing about them unless you cheat online. otherwise you have to wait until your character is at level 50 (max) and you unlock the suit gadget that marks the hidden photo ops on your map. and even then, they only show up as you encounter them on your minimap, so you can't just go on the big map and place a waypoint marker.

the most difficult thing in the game imo was getting gold on all taskmaster challenges, and that in and of itself does not give a trophy, sadly. there was also no requirement for beating the game on any particular difficulty to get platinum. however, as mentioned above, one of the DLC trophies is to complete the game on ultimate difficulty (just the story mode, so no need to go around doing collectibles or side missions), which you only unlock after defeating the game

the game is crazy fun though. might have set the standard a bit high considering its the first PS4 game i ever played.

DLC doesn't go on sale much on the PSN Store. Instead Sony will put out a Complete Edition of the game later on.

ah, i see. still, the response to the DLC has been pretty lukewarm from everywhere i've read. i could in theory sell the disc on amazon... but then there's no way ima pay full price for the complete edition, and it would probably be quite some time when prices drop to something reasonable. i'll probably pass and just hang on to the copy and forego the DLC

only have a couple missions left before completing my NG+ playthrough on ultimate difficulty for spider man. it took damn near 15 years to finally make a Spider Man game that surpassed Spiderman 2. i give the game a strong 9 or 9.5 out of 10. after having played through the game twice (once as a completionist, and once just to play through the harder difficulty)... here are my final thoughts

    Pros

    - Best looking super hero game I've ever played
    - Great comic book vibe. Parker cracking jokes the whole time, really hit a home run with the characters (except MJ who's a total idiot the entire game).
    - Best combat to date for a Spider-Man game by a country mile. They basically took the free-flow combat of the Batman: Arkham series and made it unique enough to fit spiderman by adding aerial combat, more environmental usage, web attacks, etc.
    - Focus meter literally felt perfect for healing/finishers. Bravo.
    - Amazing story mode. Incorporated a ton of villains for a good amount of boss battles.
    - They did a great job incorporating a few villain/bosses exclusively through side-quests (the Tombstone storyline was expertly done tbh, Taskmaster was done well too)
    - They NAILED web-swinging. It was a little less physics oriented and thus easier than Spiderman 2, but it was probably for the better. The movement/animations were much better too. They also added a LOT more variation to your traversal with the Web-Zip and Point-Launch mechanics so swinging never felt monotonous
    - Different suits/suit powers were a great addition, some of the abilities really shined above the others to the point where I rarely used about 70% of them. It was cool that you can mix and match your suit with suit powers, though.
    - Different web gadgets were cool, but sometimes I forgot I had more and used the default webshooters a vast majority of the time. But when you remember your gadgets, it really adds diversity to battles.
    - Enemy bases were a lot of fun to clear out, and the challenges forced you to get used to all sorts of different combat mechanics.

    Cons

    - The biggest flaw were the Mary Jane/Miles stealth missions, which would come when you felt the game was picking up a lot of momentum and sorta just kill it
    - The "different" collectibles felt very monotonous. A lot of the "side missions" just introduced you to more collectibles. Those don't feel like "side missions" whatsoever.
    - It was annoyingly difficult to disengage from walls when you accidentally stuck to one. Spiderman 2 dealt with this issue so much better.
    - You actually had less access to the city than Spiderman 2. Couldn't get to Roosevelt/Ellis Island or Statue of Liberty, for example.

Would recommend to anybody who enjoys the action/adventure genre.

next on my itinerary is The Last of Us: Remastered. I never even played the original, so I'm expecting quite the treat.

i have no doubts it'll be great. it just looks like its gonna be a behemoth. i've read the main story alone is somethin like 40 hours, which to me is pretty unheard of for a non-RPG. that's longer than a in fallout game

i was looking forward to playing The Last of Us which is much more straightforward/linear. gotta get mentally prepped to start somethin like RDR2

its trash imo, save your money. clunky controls, and storyless game...just hunt monsters, pretty much it
I sold that game after 4 weeks mainly for the lack of story. The controlls feel clunky depending on your skillsets. The combat is A+ though.

Started a new game plus of Persona 5 the other day. Man I think the story is way better in Persona 3 and Persona 4, though the music is killer in P5.

Ive been playing RDR2 pretty regularly since launch date and I still haven't completed the main story. At no point have I gotten bored though. There's a ton of stuff to do/see.

General question, do you guys play one game at a time until you've beaten it or do you hope back and forth?

yeah that's how i've always been to (at least with respect to single player content).

but now i'm pretty hesitant to launch RDR2 which is going to eat a lot of time when i already have something of a backlog.

Might as well play it when you get it. It's not like Rockstar is going to do any single player DLC for it.

i had just finished spider-man earlier, launched last of us, and had dinner plans afterwards. got home pretty late. all i did before going to sleep was install Red Dead to avoid having to do it later.

it's pretty gripping. the opening scene was amazing. reminded me of 2004 dawn of the dead's opening (which was the high point of that movie), but better
