It wasn't uncons utional when it was ratified by the SCOTUS. Further amendments by the Republican Congress torpedoed it. Which means, they can also make it cons utional again.
At any rate, I'm sure this will be appealed and take a while.
Honestly, considering the GOP still have zero ideas about healthcare, I'm not even sure why they did this to themselves.
Paul Ryan not in charge
Things will charge
Additionally, the law has not been blocked; therefore it is still in effect until appeals process is exhausted.Steve Vladeck, a CNN legal analyst and a law professor at the University of Texas School of Law, said he felt an appeal could be looked on favorably by the Supreme Court.
"The ruling relies on conclusions about who can bring this suit and about the impact of President Trump's tax bill that have been widely debunked by scholars from across the political spectrum," Vladeck said. "It will certainly generate headlines, and it may even be upheld by the conservative federal appeals court in Texas, but it's difficult to imagine that the Supreme Court—which has already turned away two challenges to the ACA—would agree with tonight's ruling."
Get back to me when Trump or any Republican comes up with a single idea on how to do that.
I don't think this is very complicated, as far as how it'll play out in Congress.
Pelosi is going to pass a law restoring either the individual mandate or something similar that gives it back it's Cons utionality validity as the SCOTUS reviewed it, and put pressure on the Senate and Trump to basically deny the 20+ million enrolled through ACA.
And it's really unfortunate, because the GOP had full control to put through this "strong law that provides great healthcare", but they don't know what it is.
Obamacare passed with 60 votes in the senate and they couldn't even get 50 (+ Pence) to repeal it.
Well it's obvious! Universal healthcare! How to fund it? Tax the rich people! Do you really need more than 800sqft to live in?
Why can't we have individual State mandated health care and just leave the Federal Government out of it entirely?
Not suggesting that at all, just replying to Trump's tweet about GREAT healthcare and protecting pre-existing conditions... also his campaign promise about covering everybody and saving so much money while doing it. They're all full of . Just be honest about it. "Sabotage and repeal" is the only plan.
Because you end up with a disparity of care and expenses, and the good old patient dumping that existed until the federal government intervened (Reagan at that).
Not to mention that States do not have the tools that the federal government has when it comes to funding an area that's increasingly expensive, considering that regulating costs has so far been off the table.
You'd think regulating healthcare to make it more affordable would be the cheapest way and the first step. But det swamp.
Why gov not just fix charges thAt dr hostipal charges
Seeing dr should not cost 800 for 1 hr
That's part of the incongruity of demanding Congress to make healthcare great, while at the same time wanting the federal government out of the healthcare business.
why do you hate capitalism?
You think a hot woman dr is worth 800 dollars an hour
If she has enough people lined up willing to pay 800 an hour to see her, why shouldn't her accept that money?

" Judge Reed O’Connor’s court, which has become
the conservative starting point for pipelining issues up to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Where did they file their lawsuit, you ask? In the Northern District of Texas, with Judge Reed O’Connor.
In August 2016, O’Connor issued a nationwide injunction that blocked the Obama administration from enforcing the guidance and protecting transgender students just as the school year was starting.
In his order, O’Connor determined that “sex” does not include gender iden y, but only “the biological and anatomical differences between male and female students as determined at their birth.”
