Contract player tbh
Nikola Vucevic is having the best year of his career at the best possible time: he's an unrestricted free agent this summer. Here are some of his numbers:
20.8 ppg
11.5 rpg
3.7 apg
1 bpg
1 spg
54% FG%
40.7% 3ptFG%
26.5 PER
#10 in NBA in RPM
He's 28 years old, which is traditionally the year nba players peak statistically. Those are HOF type of numbers, and almost all are above his career averages. Is this a huge anomaly, or is he a legitimate late bloomer who could be a real difference maker on the right team?

Meh. I'd rather have a Capela/DeMonkey type center than him.
His defense used to be real horrible so he doesnt help as much as his offensive numbers would indicate
In '16-'17, he was 20th among centers in RPM at +0.77.
In '17-'18, he was 12th at +2.23.
In '18-'19, he's 3rd at + 4.76.
Contract year. Carousel of Orlando front office/coaching. Player turnover.
I don't think there are many bigs who'd make the playoffs with fellow starters DJ Augustine, Evan Fournier, and Jonathan Simmons...
Thats not an answer
I get what you're saying, but the question I'm posing in the thread is whether he's a late bloomer peaking at the right time.
Yeah, clearly he had his issues before.
He isnt peaking in December, hopefully. His stats are empty so we wont know what he can do on a good team.
Yeah, I'm sure his agent will point to this season's numbers and ask for a huge contract and teams will point to his past, trying to bring that number down. It'll be interesting to see what he gets.
He will get paid. 30 teams would take him so he wont lose money.
the shooting and spacing he provides for Orlando (plus he's probably underrated as a passing big man too) has allowed their offense to be better than it would be without him when you look at all of his teammates. I don't watch that team all that much, but he's a good offensive player.
Spurfan acting like they wouldn't throw their grandma into the riverwalk for a chance to have Vucevic on their team![]()
I hadn't considered it, but I'd take him over Lamarcus at this point.
Spurs play Orlando tonight: good chance to see Vucevic in action.
Dark times when Spurs fans are coveting Vucevic.
Younger, better at ude, actually shoots threes, and will likely cost around the same amount per year.
Scrappy. Intelligent. High IQ. Gym rat. Deceptively athletic.
