a SF would be nice but the roster could use more than one upgrade.
considering the spurs aren't going the tank route, robin seems potentially available via trade or buyout.
https://static.nytimes.com/email-con...?nlid=60638453One name to file away here: Chicago’s Robin Lopez. The Bulls have made Lopez available via trade along with the former No. 2 overall draft pick Jabari Parker, according to league sources, but moving the experienced center isn’t so simple given his $14.4 million salary.
There will be little need for the Bulls to keep Lopez, 30, beyond Feb. 7 if they don’t find a workable trade for him, which may set up the former Knick to emerge as one of most coveted buyout candidates. Golden State’s positional needs also could certainly change between now and then, but Kevon Looney is the closest thing to a proven center currently available to Coach Steve Kerr.
some people here are pinning their hopes on pau, who will almost be 39 when the POs start, which is beyond me. we do have poeltl but lopez seems like a much more polished version of him. he's also more of a "dirty work"/grittier player than anyone else on the spurs' frontline. la could focus on scoring while robin worries about rebounding, etc.

My hopes are trading pau for a solid wing, not interested in getting another slow big
we have Poeltl and Pau on the bench, what do we need another slow lumbering C in 2018 for?
Sideshow Bob is another scrub who s us up the ass whenever we play him. That's the only reason I'd take him but he doesn't move the needle.
ST disapproves this trade, so it's a good one!
I wonder if Bulls will take Pau's expiring for him.
Never-mind, I did not realize he is also an expiring contract.
I'd take him if the Spurs could pick him up for cheap, but not worth giving up assets with Pau and Poeltl on the roster (assuming Pau ever gets healthy).
Spurs need a defensive wing...just like 29 other teams in the NBA do.
Unload Pau for him and some prospect? That dude that punched someone out on their roster (Bobby Portis)?
more servicable than poeltl, more mobile than pau. spurs would have an “enforcer” type player, not afraid of getting scrappy.
definitely wouldn’t give up the world for him but he seems like he could be had for a bargain. his contract expires after this year too.
Imo it's a bad idea to bring in some old stiff and stifle the development of poeltl who Imo is better now and is obv way younger. Plus he doesn't really fill a need. Spurs need to improve their perimeter D above all else
We could see the rare quadruple towers lineup of DeRozan/Aldridge/Poeltl/Gasol/Lopez. Do it, Mitch.
This, the Spurs have very little chance of going far in playoffs this year, why would you jeopardize Jakob's development especially when he is giving you productive minutes. Focus has to be on getting a 3D SF, if you can make that happen then maybe you entertain other deals that are smaller upgrades.
I want to see more Poeltl. He has shown so much and deserves more minutes than less
And that is why you do not use Crack Boys and Girls......You really think he is more serviceable then Poodle? And why would any team get rid of an expiring contract they are like worth gold to teams trying to clear cap which is pretty much every team. Understand why you want an enforcer but I would rather wait and bring over Nikola this summer. Yep I agree Gasol needs to be traded but for either picks or a SF not a center.
Center has been the one position that hasn't been a weakness at this season, plus Gasol is definitely better than Rolo tbh.
great insurance policy too.
all it takes is a sprain for jakob or gasol to miss time.
