forbes/murray/white is going to be a nice rotation tbh
*lonnie/murray/white.....Bryn is fine for 10-15 mins to see if he's hitting shots but should have a short leash if he isn't. I'm with you though, i think the backcourt looks pretty good for the future with Derozan eventually transitioning to a SF full time....eventually replacing Rudy with a 3/D combo forward (cough Otto Porter cough) and I think the roster might look pretty good next season.

lonnie is still an unknown, so im not going there. we had great hopes for james anderson too.

i didnt like bryn coming into the season, was unhappy when we re-signed him, but guys playing well. he's shooting with confidence and his stint at PG has made him a better passer too.

I know mills is Pop's favorite and will get playing time even if White plays amazing all the time. He's a great lockeroom guy and is the longest tenured Spur with tons of corporate knowledge. But a part of me wonders if there's an internal battle going on with Pop and RC with regards to Mills. Pop raves about Mills and is constantly looking for ways to play him, even pairing him with Forbes or Parker last year. But on the other side, RC looks like he's trying his damnedest to replace Mills. He keeps drafting guards like White, Lonnie, and Murray. He signs another guard in Belli, he even trades Kawhi for a guard, and signs Forbes to a 2 year deal. RC is loading up on guards every chance he can get and it seems like he's trying to force Pop's hand. I think Pop will come around but he is going to let Mills play this year (even when he struggles) and get a chance to showcase himself and his value to other teams bc he has earned them right to do so as a veteran and a leader.

Walker is not ready he needs to work on a lot of things and add that we have the following players Sg:!Derroz, Forbes, Mills. A lot of people have said bring him up for defense which makes nonsense because he is not known for playing great D and not has he shown it in G League. He is going to get the White treatment and while White didn’t deserve it Walker does and it will make him a better player in the end. Don’t get me wrong Walker is super athletic and has a lot of potential it’s just going to take him one or even two years to break out.

nah they signed guards to make sure they have a replacement once Manu and Tony retire, trial & error initially. They got Forbes to replace Mills when they weren't sure if they would resign Mills, but they did. Pop calls the shots. We just have too many guards cause Kawhi is gone

Oh I agree that we were drafting hoping to pick a gem once Tony and Manu retired but I also think mills is part of that equation. That's the reason Bryn was signed. And we also traded for Demar. After signing Belli to be a Manu replacement of sorts. I think RC wanted to clean house with ALL of our guards (which is why he traded Green to dump Kawhi). He has only one guard left to dump and Pop won't let him but that may only last this year. Who is he going to get playing time over next year?

Thanks for the grades! Yes last night's game was great to see. LMA commented after the game that they weren't especially spry after getting in late in the morning, but were 'motivate' after the loss. Good to see that kind of focus. Let's hope for more of the same against the Celtics!

i appreciate timvp for all the trouble he puts into these grades but it's customary for him to randomly give out one savage as grade to someone who deserves better
Ha! Bertans and Gays' scores should be switched.

I don't think the casuals understand Mills is the reason the bench is working the way it does.
He’s an underrated playmaker. His passing isn’t bad and he can be microwave offense. I think we’d miss him more than we realize if he was traded. Especially depending on who we’d get in return

Knuckleheads on this board don't really understand corporate knowledge or culture. This team wouldn't be solving its issues with the chemistry it has without guys like Mills and Gasol. Sure, we might have overpaid, but we have these players to glue everyone together.

You've gotta figure that the NBA is made up of the greatest basketball players in the world’s history. The margin of talent isn’t as distant from one end to the other as we might think it is. Sure, Lebron is way better than Dante Cunningham, but even your Cunninghams and Matt Bonners were head and shoulders above everyone in their high school, in their college. Talent plays a huge role in a team’s success, but chemistry and understanding of the system and coach can mask a lack of talent tremendously. Corporate knowledge is extremely underrated. It’s why many former contenders hesitate to blow their team up. A team’s lack of talent can be mitigated by your Pattys and your Belinellis.

I dunno, it’s late for me. This post may have made no sense at all on here though it makes perfect sense in my head. Point being, basketball is not entirely about who can dribble better or shoot better. There’s a mental aspect too and I believe it’s a big part of why our Spurs aren’t just floundering out there.
