I know, Dirk was a better scorer than Duncan, was Dirk a better player than Timmy?
they have different strength offensively ..tim can dominate the paint while dirk dominates the perimeter..both can score efficiently..They are both great offensive player..

Hopefully Rudy plays to guard him, who else can do it, Bertans?
He'd toss Bertans' salad, tbh. It's gotta be bits of Gay and White but I expect Pop to use Dante on him too.

Lot of bad takes with regards to assists-he's one of the most efficient players of all time.

That said if his ego was really that big then he would know he needs to average 5-6 APG to match MJ/Kobe. He would then be MJ but able to shoot the 3, a new GOAT.

Again, I wanted Kawhi gone after the season and felt we needed to tip our hand about draft picks to the Clippers to organize a trade about Harris/Harrell S&T/12/13. But overall, I'm just glad he's gone. Dark cloud has been lifted.

Jesus, I didn't realize it was so disproportionate. As someone noted above, he got it as a hat tip for his defense vs Lebron. But Timmy also played great D as always. That award clearly should have gone to Timmy.
Duncan deserved FMVP but nobody was saying the bolded when Kawhi was playing for the Spurs. See how those narratives change in an instant when a player wrongs a fanbase. The amount of irrational uneducated takes regarding Kawhi within the last year have been astounding.

But Dirk was better, I don't think anyone can really argue that. All I'm saying is that defense matters. If it didn't then Timmy would be put on the same level as players like dirk and webber.

You got it wrong. You're supposed to say Kawhi is garbage and Derozan is a much better player.

To be in the GOAT conversation he needs to win a good chunk of rings as the leading dog.
GOATS have plenty of rings, not just some nice stats in 2 seasons.

To have efficiency measured you have to play a full season, not every time your tummy feels fine, thats not All Time material.
DPOY has nothing to do with scoring.
KD has like 4 scoring les, how many KL has?

I cant speak for them, but never said he was a playmaker or a great assist guy or even that he had great handles.
He is good, but he is no Lebron.
Even a clown like Klay Thompson has great nights and nobody talks about him.
53 points or so in 23 minuts if I recall correctly.
You said Kawhi had one great season. You don't have to win scoring les to have a great season. It also doesn't help to have a head coach who suppresses offensive statistics by pulling players out of games early so they stay under the radar and garner less attention longer. That's what a control freak like Pop does.

nope, they are basically the same offensive player..it’s just that dirk can hit a 3..but both can score 30pts..

    obviously duncan is better defensively..

the real question here is can you rank kawhi above curry in the all time rankings?

    kawhi= great defensively and scoring

curry= much more all around offensive player and won 2 mvp’s

Most Spurs fans acknowledge that he is a great player and one of the very best in the league. What rightfully bothers us was his behavior, deception, and selfishness towards a franchise that groomed him to be the face of the franchise. And objectively, we can question his heart especially when considering he's still avoiding back to backs.

No, I agree and he would also have needed to stay here until he was 38 or so to account for low counting stats in his first three seasons. I'm just saying he could've edged MJ due to his outside shooting-if everything else held the same.

Nobody on the Spurs roster can do a semi-decent job defending Kawhi one-on-one. It might be a good idea to double team him everytime down the court, tbh. If it worked against one of the best passers in the league (Jokic), it might work against Kawhi, tbh.

Dirk was the better scorer in his prime.

Not yet, if Kawhi rings again then definitely.

That's unfair to compare Dirk to Webber. He had one of the best playoff runs ever in 2011. There were no other all-stars on that team and he lead them to the championship. He's also one of only 4 players to average 25 pt/10 rb in the playoffs for his career.

I think Rudy looked good against LeBron. Probably will need to play Gay/Dante to match the Kawhi/Siakam combo, tbh.

If Pop gives Kawhi the double team treatment, which I think it's the way to go, it doesn't matter much who Kawhi's main defender is. In that case you can even give DeRozan the assignment. He might put extra effort on that end if he's given that responsability.
