Just rewatched Kawhi’s interview he did in March. Asked him if he wanted to finish his career in SA “yeah....for sure...” dude was lying through his teeth. The comments in the YouTube video are hilarious and honestly kind of sad. Guy was off the team 4 months later.

What else is he supposed to say? He had to do damage control. No way would he have said “I don’t know” because then the media would’ve had a field day with Kawhi is leaving the Spurs which wasn’t confirmed from Kawhi himself. Even his “yeah sure” sounded hollow at the time as well.

There's a million ways he could have avoided that situation all together to where it never got there. And even still, of course he could have said, you know I'll assess that in the offseason. Right now I'm just focused on being a bum, err, trying to get my quad healthy.

Kawhi basically said you fans, I won't give you any explanation, I won't attend the games neither root for my team mates.. I would fully understand if fans boo him all night long, I would also understand Spurs organization would prefer the high road and treat him well with a video tribute with highlights of 2014 le. This will reinforce the fact Spurs FO did all they could to keep him, treated him fairly during this whole drama and at the end he is the one who quit on his team.
