First of all, Danny Green goes down as one of my favorite Spurs players of all-time. Off the court, he was always a genuine, honest person. On the court, he played hard, he accepted any role, he loved defense, he thrived with tough love from Pop and everything he did came from a team-first mindset. You couldn’t ask for much more from a role players as a fan. Watching him go from a guy who couldn’t hit a shot during in his first playoff run as the Spurs collapsed against the Thunder to a certified postseason killer who set marksmanship records in the Finals was amazing. I’m so glad he got that ring. Thanks for everything, Danny.

In this recent interview, I thought Danny had some interesting tidbits:

-Asked about his state of mind returning to San Antonio, he said it was a chance for him to go home.

-He scoffed at the assumption that he knows Nephew better than anyone else in Toronto.

-He said Nephew took a year off. I mean, he probably didn’t mean it like that … but, yeah.

-He shot down talk of controversy last year. Specifically, he fought against the idea that there was stuff said that Nephew might not have liked. “It was taken out of context,” Green said. “I think he knows that,” he said. “Not much controversy behind closed doors” and “everything was cordial.”

-He was pretty forceful that Leonard’s last game (career-high 45 points) wasn’t his best game ever. Why? He was only a force on one end, he said.

-“I’ve seen him put on a show plenty of the times in the past, especially before the injury, when he had his explosiveness.” So, uh, that’s interesting that Danny doesn’t think Nephew has his pre-injury explosiveness. If anyone would know, it’d be him, right?

Well, it wouldn't be him (knowledge of explosiveness) if he doesn't actually know #2 better than anyone else on the Raptors, right? Danny is just a an extra PR/"leadership" guy for whatever team he happens to be on.

More interested in Rudy's appearance on "The Green Room." Can't find it right now.

I think it’s obvious he isn’t as explosive. I re watched even some of the 2014 playoff run and to see him explode for that put back dunk against the Heat was pretty crazy. That’s stuff he can’t do atm

I've watched most of their games and many of the home games in person, he's definitely noticeably less explosive and relying more on strength and bullying this season..

I agree about his exposiveness. Leonard is coming into his own and is an outright monster with his combination of half court moves strength and balance. No one in history can compare, not even Jordan I think. BUT I do see Kawhi is not exlosive either in my short time watching him play this year. In the Spurs he was a bit skinnier but wowed us with some explosive moves every now and then. With Toronto I am not wowed at his explosiveness ever but more his strength and balance in the paint. Guy is relentless down there. All in all, he may actually be injured in someway whether or not that is the Spurs fault and whether he still could've played last year is another argument.

Everyone has tip-toed around the Kawhi situation and not a single person has fully spoken their minds-- Pop, Manu, Tony, Green, etc... Danny's right-- everything has been "cordial," but to the point where the real story is mostly hidden. I have to admit though how strong bias is: when I rooted for Kawhi, he was a charming, unique, no trash talk anomaly in a league full of typical loudmouthed guys. Now he's a frustratingly uncommunicative player who is hurting his own rep by being silent... He probably hasn't really changed all that much. What's changed is my allegiance.

Danny Green also said last off-season that he thought Kawhi wanted to be back, so…

Danny has to feel he finishes his career a Spur if Kawhi isn’t a . Now he has to be in Toronto when clearly he considers SA home. If my “friend” did something that forced me to relocate against my wishes I’d certainly feel some type of way.

One thing I have noticed watching a lot of Raptors games, he complains A LOT now. Granted he doesn’t get calls like Harden, James and the other guys but he never used to do that. He has a fit atleast twice a game now

his better then jordan and the jordan wannabe over the years, this clown can shoot at a high efficiency and has range also... jordan never had range or pulled many 3pt attempts like kawhi does... hence kawhi doesnt play in a triangle offense where he always takes teh shots...

his fkn slow ass or not puttin much effort into defense, he only zones in when a defensive play is needed in that important stretch down the game

He is a very gifted defender but it seemed like Pop had to ride him and bribe him to play defense before he could get his shots on offense. He never seemed too happy about playing so much on both sides he couldn't ever take a break but still wanted more minutes. He is a better post up scorer and stronger and longer than Jordan but Jordan was an all-time great athlete. Jordan just glided and hung in the air for so many layups and jumpshots. Really gave him an advantage over most.

I want to hear chants of "Danny, Danny, Danny!". Hopefully there are some Argie fans left from the Manu times to start the chants.

Eh, I never forgave Green for choking in games 6 and 7 in 2013 and then partying with LeBum. Unforgivable.

    Indeed.

I'd rather cheer for a team of D. Greens barely making the playoffs than a contender team led by Nephew.

Winning at all costs? This franchise has 5 Championships already but what makes it represent something for us is a certain way of doing things. What about the sense of belonging? Values? Results of the poll are pathetic. It seems not too many people around here know the difference between win and success. Those guys would sell their mother for some glory.
