People need to relax and trust the process with Lonnie lol the kid is coming off a torn meniscus and is only 20 years old. I have no doubt he’ll be a contributor soon. Metu looks promising as well but he was a 4 year college player unlike Lonnie
Well metu only played 3 college seasons.

Let's not make up facts to prove a point.

Both show potential. Hopefully can be contributors next year

Metu seems to be the highest upside of the three here.

Walker has athleticim but isn't that big and needs to improve his basketball IQ.

Huestis has length but has questionable basketball skills. He's a better defender than Cunningham, but likely cannot shoot as well.
Metu has been a train wreck every time he’s played NBA minutes. What is it with posters on this forum who fall head over heels in love with players who can jump real high, and do nothing else? You might want to call the front office and let them know their error. They had Lonnie in the top 10 on their draft board, but only spent a second rounder on Metu. In spite of his lack of gleague production, Lonnie has an All Star ceiling. He’s just real young, and still recovering. The thing is, when it clicks for him in the gleague, he’ll be fine in the nba, too. That’s what his kind of athleticism allows. Most gleaguers can’t adapt to the speed and athleticism gulf that exists between the gleague and the NBA.

okay well regardless, Metu played 3 seasons of college ball, Lonnie played 1. That’s a big difference

Walker is a gamble he has talent but is raw teams who select late in draft have to take gambles sometimes to see if talent and skill will match up. We all new when he was drafted it was a development project no one said he would start right away so wait until 3 years is up to say he is a bust or to claim he is the next Manu.

At least be factually honest in your takes.

Still doesn't mean he is a failure either. Give him at least a year before you close minded shut him out.

Don't get too triggered just because I'm evaluating upside based on current g-league performance. You can consult for yourself the statistics, and Metu is performing much better in G-league than the other two.

Of course, both Walker and Huestis are recovering from injury.

In today's NBA, you want to get players with a real advantage over the compe ion. Metu isn't that big for either a center or a power forward, what I do like about Metu is his mobility as a big, his footwork and he does have a good shooting touch.

Is Walker going to get better? We will just have to wait and see. I do expect this, but I haven't seen it yet.

Another decent 3@D guy signed by Grizzlies Julian Washburn man even he could have taken Qpon or Cunnningham spot

metu looks like he has some pascal siakam to him. his perimeter game is so much more advanced than i thought after the draft

i'm not that impressed with walker... for all his athleticism, all he does in the halfcourt is pull up for jumpers off the dribble. he needs to show he can get to and finish at the rim much more often than he's doing now (not counting runaway dunks in transition)

huestis is dead weight, and eubanks is a center in a PF's body, which might have worked 6 years ago

Congratulations to Washburn. He's been toiling in the league for a long time under less than ideal conditions to showcase his talents. Seemed to step up his individual defense lately. Not a great athlete but fits a team like Memphis pretty well as another combo forward.

Yeah, Metu has the highest upside!! He's got length and he's very mobile. I say give him playing time in the big leagues!!

Trouble is he's a turnover machine in either league. I mean a ridiculous amount of TOs. He could stick in the NBA if he improves that and extends the range of his jumper.

They already have, and he the bed for 19 games. Length and mobility do NOT make you a basketball player.

I was thinking Eubanks, who, while not as physically gifted as Mezi, is a much better ACTUAL basketball player. Both are players moving up and down from Austin to SA, so the comparison is apt.

Cunningham and Metu have guaranteed contacts. Eubanks is just on a two way contract.

So how do you compare Cunningham and Metu?

Cunningham isn't bouncing between Austin and SA. Both of the others are.

Cunningham is who he is. He's an NBA vet that understands the game. If you're a rebuilding team, you give the minutes to Metu, and live with the mess he makes. Spurs can't afford to do that. Their margin of error is smaller than it ever has been.

Metu has played like dogsh!t in his NBA minutes. I'd love to see him and Walker both make the big leagues, however, from what I've seen Walker has the higher ceiling. But I'll just say that the jury is out on both of them. The fact the Bryn F'ing Forbes is suddenly carving out an NBA career has me questioning my entire ability to judge NBA talent, so I'm just going to wait and see how the games for these two evolve.

Well, at least I didn't make the mistake of short changing Forbes.

I don't like his defense, but on the other hand, Spurs had lived and died with Parker for a very long time.

I'll remember you making this quote every time Cunningham gets on the court. Let's see how well 'an NBA vet that understands the game' translates on the court!

    Hilarious!!
