This, though at least his play late in the fourth should boost his confidence.
He’s the star of this team so even if he’s sucking he should be on the floor..just like other superstars like Lebron, harden etc..
This, though at least his play late in the fourth should boost his confidence.
I think Pop is doing that to keep his confidence up and getting over his mental hurdles aka pounding the rock. DDR was already benched in a playoff game for being a negative impact player. At least he came to play in the 4th tonight.
Of course, a star will always get a floor of 30/33 minutes on close games, even when playing bad. But there's just no excuse to have him there for 40+ minutes when he's sucking ass.
there is no other player there pop can trust in the 4th..pop has no choice but to play derozan a lot minutes
I thought this could be the case too tbh.
I also remember reading something about Pop not resting his older guys when the season started after getting some info from the sports science staff
And who's talking about resting him on the 4th? Pop can easily get him from 5 to 8 more minutes of rest between quarters. We have one of the best benches on the league. Pop has plenty of choices, tbh. There's absolutely no need for DeRozan to be playing 40 mpg.
Pop needs derozan on the floor for the 3pt squad to work
lol no.
The beauty of the 3pt squad is that it needs no ball dominant player. Is just constant ball movement and whoever gets the best shot lets it fly.
But that’s what pop is doing..playing derozan to create for the 3point squad
Well, I'm saying that I think he's making a mistake doing that.
Crazy lol

it’s alright because there is no other perimeter player there who can score and create for his teammates than derozan..and who can attract defenders..
You saw the post game interview?
He made me laugh. He said ‘ sometimes they call me Sylvester Stallone ‘
wish we had the vid
Odd that SA won without a 20 point scorer.
Again, the 3pt squad doesn't need a ball dominant player. That's the beauty of that lineup.
they need a facilitator who can attract defenders...for them to get open shots
No, they don't. The lineup of Mills, Forbes, Belinelli, Bertans and Poeltl has been great on the time they have had together. Nobody is a ball dominant player but they are all good enough to drive and kick to create offense for themselves or others, in spurts, against opposing benches.
Having DeMar out there with them only s up the flow they have been creating together.
Point on.
Saw the highlights. Basically Derozan started assisting, Gay scored on multiple possesions in a row, and the bench stepped up and drained some 3s (especially mazeratti)
Tough win team showed grit.
Damn it's more like Barnes helped with the win than through the Spurs' efforts. Btw why are the Mavs trying to trade DSJ? I saw him play with Doncic in the early games and they were clicking
Said the same thing too. If I had just looked at the boxscore I would've assumed the Spurs lost.
He was on a slump and the way to get from it is just keep playing. Getting those clutch shots must feel good and hopefully got him going. Not playing defense is another thing and should get hacked out star or not
