Earth will start shadowing the moon a little after 9:30PM, with full eclipse starting a little after 10:40PM. Pretty cool to get a clear night (so far) when there is a lunar eclipse.

It's ing impressive when it turns red immediately upon full eclipse. It looks like the moon shrinks in size instantaneously when it happens. You might want to go outside when it gets close though because the brightness goes way down the instant the moon is fully eclipsed. Might not see it well through a window.

The last few lunar eclipses have been clouded over here. I'm going to be really ing mad if the full solar we get just northwest of SA in 2024 isn't clear. The SA area hasn't gotten a full solar eclipse in at least 170 years I think. Probably much longer.

That's weird, this one didn't look the same as last total lunar eclipse I saw. Still about 18 minutes from maximum eclipse (eg when the moon is in the center of the Earth's shadow)

Still pretty cool so far. I don’t remember ever taking the time to check one out

Exactly. The one in August 2017 was a total bust. It felt like just a very slight dimming, that's it.

I saw a handful of lunars as a kid and they're not really special to me anymore.
