The media obviously has vested interest in Kawhi going to LA, so they’re going out of their way to protect him, akin to the KD situation, but I womder what it would take for the media to turn on one of these superstars that choose to say basically “ you” to the fans and the league.

Because it is obvious that Kawhi is injured and will be for the rest of his career. He's just trying to mantain that injury manageable to get that max contract on this upcoming offseason.
    Which is fine.
IT injury and Boston's management/trade is the best showcase for "why a player should maximize his chances to get a max contract if he has a chronic injury"

Anyway, Raptors' doctors have been more supportive than Spurs'. It's clear now that the San Antonio didn't want to deal with Kawhi's injury and this much resting.

On other hand, Toronto really wants to keep him and that team is doing everything to get him.

Today, its medical staff have said they have a plan and these next 2-3 games were part of the plan. Esp after Wizards game when he took a knee on his quad. They said he will rest tomorow too and there will be more rest-games in the 2nd part of season.

Former Kobe's physio, Alex McKechnie said Kawhi never asked to sit, he also said that he has a plan for Kawhi and the player just follows it.

The only reason they are putting up with it is because they are sucking his to see if he stays. On the unlikely scenario that happens, all this resting will start getting old for them.

Kawhi just needs to suck it up and learn to play with pain. He has a chronic quad injury, just like the Spurs diagnosed.

BTW, another double digits Raptors win minus Kawhi. Doubly impressive since his backup, Anunoby, was out too.

Most stacked team in the league, tbh.

Against King Fox/Shumper/Beija less. Again, we shouldn't forget some context.

The two most stacked teams are Warriors and Celtics. The former gets Cousins and the latter aren't playing great but when Stevens can put them on the same page they're so versatile.

Yeah, and they also beat teams like the Warriors and Pacers on the road. They have all types of wins. They are just that stacked.

He played just 9 games last season. If he can play 2/3 season and playoffs this year, I doubt Raptors or any other team will need to rest him that much.

I still expect his team will sit him some b2b next season but that team won't have a plan for whole weeks off like this season.

    Beyond Bizarre.
Try to come up with a similar scenario. In all the years of NBA players-someone who has missed this much time without having undergone surgery.
    Also what is his diagnosis?
    There is none out there.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt- he really was/is injured. Why can't anyone explain what the problem is and why after all this time he is still not a 100%.
It does raise the question that this is a degenerative condition.

DD may not be the same level player as Kawhi, but I sure am glad Spurs fans, players, and office don't have to go on Kawhi's brand of roller coaster any more. This gotta be frustrating for the Raptors.

I doubt they feel frustration yet because their team is winning right now. Last year we struggled without him and wanted him back ASAP. and the longer it got put off the worse it felt.

But if Raptors keep winning, their mindset is that as long as he's healthy for the playoffs to try and make a legit run, we are in good position.

No way. Teams might not be willing to pay him the max if he sits out for two straight seasons.

If he does sit out for the season it is because he's indeed damaged goods.

Disagree, most stacked are Warriors and Raptors, i would take Siakam over any Celtics player not named Kyrie. Tatum overrated as .

Looks like he is going to be out for tonight's game against Indiana as well. That will be 14 sits against 36 starts...he's essentially missed more than a quarter of the season under the guise of "load management". Sounds awful to familiar to his "Return From Injury Management" bull .

As others have said...Raptors fans will put up with it because they are still winning without him. If they were losing, they'd be putting him up on a stake.

Kawhi is either a giant pussy who can't handle the soreness that comes with NBA basketball, or there is more to his injury that the Raptors are letting on. Glad the Spurs don't have to deal with that drama anymore.

That’s not entirely true. Obviously the team would’ve played “better” with Kawhi but there were some stretches last season when the team would begin to string some wins together only to always have Kawhi’s PR machine come out with some bull proactive message talking about a timeline for his return and the team would immediately start a losing streak.

This will be a week since his last game.
As I asked earlier, can someone please tell me
    1. an example of a player missing this much time for an injury that didn't require surgery?
    2. what is the diagnosis also give an example of another player with a similar injury.

There is not. The dude is literally taking games off. In the case of the Spurs, he basically took half a season off as far as I'm concerned.

Kawhi has the ability to be a generational talent, to be sure. But guys don't just miss 1/4 games when they are "healthy". There is something more going on...and all signs points to a chronic injury.

The Raptors will probably be happy if he can come back for a solid playoff run...but even that is an IF with capital letters at this point. Then he either leaves or stays...but if I was Toronto, I wouldn't want to sell the farm for him.

I guarantee that future teams are going to be wary on giving this guy the max after these last two seasons. Maybe the Spurs saw that writing on the wall and Uncle Dennis didn't like it.

I wonder how long it'll be before his teammates start questioning the FO? I sure hope Toronto's front office is strong enough to handle the situation. I can definitely see this causing a rift in the locker room.

Kawhi definitely has to have some sort of chronic injury. It's clear as day now.

Kawhi sat out a year with no surgery, and he still isn't 100%. I would be scared less to mortgage the future of my franchise on him at this point..

With the Warriors super team, you can't blame any GM for the gamble, I guess,
