this decision just got upheld by the Supreme Court, Exxon will have to cough up.

Exxon Mobile was ordered to turn over 40 years of do ents on Wednesday showing the company’s views on and knowledge of climate change. The ruling was made by a Massachusetts judge in an investigation led by the state’s attorney general Maura Healy, who is working to determine how much the company knew about the link between fossil fuels and climate change, and also to determine whether Exxon intentionally hid or suppressed information from the public and investors.

climatagolists been intimidated into making predictions usually at conservative, low end of the range, while AGW is now exceeding the high end of predicted ranges

Antarctica is melting at a more terrifying rate than anyone expected

A recent Monmouth pollfound that 78 percent of Americans believe climate change is real and leading to sea-level rise and more extreme weather. That’s up from 70 percent three years ago. The headline-grabbing takeaway: A majority of Republicans — 64 percent — are now believers, a 15-point jump from 2015.

yeah but then its "we acknowledge there's been warming but have no way of knowing exactly what's causing it"

unless those numbers reflect, specifically, anthropogenic climate change, dont see it as particularly promising

    from Mr. Lewis' blog post:

The paper does not directly claim that ocean warming is accelerating faster than thought; that is the headline of The New York Times article about the paper.

no doubt that newspapers/magazines/web sites will often botch scientific reporting... most of the time they're kind enough to link to the actual paper, which is where people should be getting their info from.

hence, the original author's response to lewis:

This exercise was prompted by a comment by Nic Lewis who we thank, and it highlights the uncertainty in actual trends and their use to depict changes. The conclusions in our Perspective remain sound. If the alternative analysis method proposed by Nic Lewis is used, the change is not quite as dramatic as implied in some of the associated press releases.

AGW is real, the tipping point is past, GHG 's gonna get really really bad, for centuries.

Human race, esp BigCorp chasing rising profits, has in its bed.

And still, there's no stopping the show, and certainly reversing it is impossible

    Ecocide is human suicide.

    this is fine:

Previous research showed that mel er from Thwaites accounts for about 4 percent of the global sea level rise, said Ted Scambos, a senior research scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado, who was not involved with the new study.

If the loss of ice becomes so severe that the glacier collapses — something computer models predict could happen in 50 to 100 years — sea levels would rise by two feet. That’s enough to inundate coastal cities across the globe.

“It’s completely plausible,” Scambos said, adding that "Thwaites has a really perfect storm going for it” — a reference to the fact that parts of the glacier lie below sea level and are thus especially vulnerable to melting by seawater.

primarily affects Asia, so who cares?

"Global warming is on track to transform the frigid, glacier-covered mountain peaks of the HKH cutting across eight countries to bare rocks in a little less than a century,” said Wester of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).

The report, by 210 authors, said that more than a third of the ice in the region will melt by 2100 even if governments take tough action to limit global warming under the 2015 Paris climate agreement.
And two-thirds of the ice could vanish if governments fail to rein in greenhouse gas emissions this century. “To me this is the biggest worrying thing,” Wester told Reuters on the sidelines of an event to launch the report in Kathmandu.

Met Office: global warming could exceed 1.5C within five years

Lowest Paris agreement target may temporarily be surpassed for first time between now and 2023

Meteorologists said there was a 10% chance of a year in which the average temperature rise exceeds

1.5C, which is the lowest of the two Paris agreement targets
set for the end of the century.

Man kills 25% of vertebrates on land, all major mammals are in decline, at risk

Insects are WAY down, 2.5% less year

As the bottom of the food chain, absent insects reduce bird and bat populations, and dead insects also enrich the soil.

The culprit? massive expansion of agriculture

The multi-dimensional climate horror stories arrive weekly, relentlessly.

But mostrous, planet-destroying Capitalism demands infinite amassing of more Capital

"So because they're doing it, we should do it too." or "Because they're not doing anything about it, we shouldn't do anything about it, either."

Here's a possible idea when (not if) starts hitting the fan. Massive tariffs or outright bans on goods produced in countries that haven't got their carbon emissions below a certain threshold. China is also going to be forced to get their in order because projections at their current rate have big parts of the country being virtually uninhabitable because of pollution.
