PG wanted to come. He never made it. Kawhi wanted to come. He’s not there and seems likely he doesn’t want to play with Bron.
Sure some stars want to go there but no one is actually going but Bron so far. If AD gets moved to another team it’s a huge blow to LA as it means another year of Bron wasted. That’s a big deal.
Beyond that, the reason it’s dire, is because LA was supposedly unified in their path of patience. So much for that. It’s half a season in and Bron is already pushing for major changes. The pressure is big time on.

I’m saying the deal gets done but it’s not going to be under AD’s timeline. After being ridiculed for years, Demps will play hardball and will drag this as long as possible. The Lakers offer will always be there. There’s literally no reason to move him now other than to appease AD/Rich Paul.

You are looking at it purely from a talent perspective. Most small market teams want cheap talent on rookie deals, expiring deals, draft picks, and/or cash in a trade. The Lakers have all of that and the leverage of knowing that he won't be a 1-year rental. No other team can say that. Not even Boston. Why, you say? Because if he wanted to be in Beantown, he makes his trade demand in April - after his lottery bound season is over (currently they are 13th in the west). That means even Boston risks giving up a package that features Tatum...for a 1-year rental? I don't see Ainge - the draft pick - doing that. Especially when they are EC contenders without AD.
All that being said. Memphis could have gotten more for Pau in 2008. But the Lakers could provide them with cap relief (Kwame's expiring KT), young prospect (Fat Gasol), etc. It lead to 8 - which was funny AF tbh.

It’s all conjecture at this point but for all we know the offer is not as simple as the Lakers young core. Demps is probably pitching the idea of adding a bloated contract. We’ll find out sooner or later.
