NYK has been rebuilding for 20 years

The growing European talent pool isn't so enamored with living & playing in New York

Mavs gonna have to pay a max contract to find out ...
If he's not coming back this season, possibly. He'll be a restricted free agent.

Porzingis is extremely overrated and is now injury prone, great move by the Knicks to take a shot at Durant + Kyrie/whoever..

Don't mind the move for Dallas, they aren't going to attract any key FAs, might as well take a shot with potential..

Not like they were going to sign anyone better with their capspace. Dallas has only landed lower tier crap at high end prices lately with guys like Matthews and Parsons.
True. Although I wonder if players will find Dallas more attractive with Doncic there.

    Can Dallas get Gordon Hayward?
I see what you're doing here and I like it. The league would love to make fun of a team starting all white folks. Watch for Kleber to be a starting big too...find out a way to get Dirk on the floor at the same time and you have an almost all foreign white lineup, lolz

Porzingis looks like the next Drew Gooden. Probably will be on a handful of teams before the end of his career.

Both high picks. Both are black holes that don't play defense. My gut tells me the Mavs got the end of the stick.

On second thought Porzingis is a decent help defense rim protector, but will get lost on the pick and rolls.

The guy with the weird patch on the back on his head who was a 4th overall pick, and maybe the only premium draft pick in NBA history to be so bad that he was traded halfway through his rookie year

You realize there's more than 2 player on the court...an at les 2 of the others will be Kleber and Finney-Smith who are great defensively. Plus both those stars will get better defensively. Just like Dirk did.

Dallas doesn't really lose anything they wanted to keep anyway, so it makes sense for them. Steph Curry was "always injured" early on, so they're hoping Porzingis can evolve into a guy that actually plays... The gamble makes sense for them.

The Knicks were terrible and had nothing to lose, but I still don't get why a Durant, Kyrie, or Butler would want to start over with a franchise that has been famously mismanaged for so long and is now tanking/rebuilding after five terrible years in a row.

When did Dirk get better on defense?
HE got stronger and smarter and had better team mates which helped but he was trash on defense.

True. Everyone forgets how much of a china doll Curry looked like in his first few years. I remember people here scoffing the Warriors for paying him $12 million a season.

theres definitely more of a concern when a big guy has knee issues than when a guard has ankle issues, though

mavs upgrading from dampier to chandler when picking up great defenders like marion/kidd is what made their D formidable, not dirk just randomly becoming better

Harlem is 100% correct even healthy dude was overrated
But even if he is 90% of what he was before the knee that is a good #2 for Luka

Bottom line Cubes went all in on Luka and dumped Dsjr, Matthews and empty stats Jordan even if they have to overpay KP still a win hopefully he don't stay injured or diminished like Parsons or Matthews.
Irony of it all they punted on Nash to early because they worried about his back but paid top dollar for damaged goods ever since, smh
