God damnit White, dumb dumb foul.
I don't live by that motto, actually. I believe numbers need context and explanations before we can try to apply them to anything. If you can give me real reasons why the numbers are wrong, that's one thing. But if you're just going to be like "They're wrong because I disagree with them," that's not a real critique. That stretch tonight is a perfect example how Gasol can come in and play well, and fans on here still think he's ing up. I see Pau play, and I can see why his numbers make sense. I also see how he doesn't work in situations. It's not like I'm a fan of how Pop is using him or Poeltl right now either. But I don't have to pretend his numbers are lying to think that.
Like the reason why I think Pau's on/offs are worse is because he played 158 of his 291 minutes before Pop got his defensive gameplan installed, and that's a way higher percentage than any other guy on the roster. Pau himself was actually a fine defender for what he can do. But the team was missing rotations and not trying very hard back then. They fixed that starting in December, and everyone got the plus-minus bump from that except Gasol. Now he's back, and his numbers are consistent in that regard, but he still has to deal with more than half his minutes being during the worst defensive stretch in recent Spurs memory.

God damnit White, dumb dumb foul.
That technical seems to have done some good for Derozan
He's still been making bad decisions tbh, just getting to the line now.
Another low-IQ foul.
Damn you Pop!!! Why!?!?!?!? Why Gasol!?!?!?
Low-IQ play by the Spurs letting the Pelicans hang around. Reminding me more and more of the Bulls game.
Spurs gonna choke another 21 point lead
Nothing I said on that thread has proven to be wrong, and it is very unlikely that ever chances, tbh. So I don't know why I would be butthurt about being right.
When it comes to defense, advanced stats aren't as reliable as offensive stats or impact stats in general. Also, I love how when I said Bertans was a positive on defense you showed his defensive on/off stat 5 games into the season saying that's better than DBPM. But now that that stat doesn't fit your agenda you did a 180 on that.Your "Whole season worth of sample size" has Gasol as a way better defensive player than Poeltl, but you'll cling to the one stat that puts Jakob ahead in that category. It just goes to show how skewed your basketball world-view is. You claim to be all new-age and stat-driven, but when it comes time to actually talk about the numbers and how they apply, you give a paper-thin analysis.
I already explained the SF/PF thing and it was pretty clear. You are just salty because you realized you had an awful take for which you are getting rightfully gang banged so you are just trying to divert from that fact. You complain about people using "traditional position markers" then whine that Bertans isn't playing the three rather than the four. It just doesn't make sense. It's like you don't think about what you type at all.
BTW, you still didn't answer who played SF the other night, Gay or Bertans.
Pop showcasing Pau tonight the only way we get someone to bite on the contract is to at least rebound. Right now he has zero. Bellini has 1 and Davis 4
I really hope the reason for Pau playing lately is to showcase him so that the Spurs can move him.
Hate to say it because I hate his defense, but Patty has been plugood lately.
Why isn’t Lonnie with the team? No Austin game either smh
Pelicans have scored 30 points in the last 6 minutes. Spurs need to clean up the defense, specifically from the 3-point line.
Just saw his Instagram story too he’s out to eat with his girl right now lol
What does it take for Poeltl to get some ing minutes?
Dunno why you'd be so butt-hurt regardless, yet you have been.
Oh, no. On/offs are still my favorite of all the defensive stats. I like them more than RPM and BPM. But as I've mentioned, there's a really obvious reason why Gasol's on/offs were worse than Poeltl. Unlike you, I don't think just listing a number cons utes an argument. The other stats don't have the same blind spot to Gasol's injury that on/offs do.When it comes to defense, advanced stats aren't as reliable as offensive stats or impact stats in general. Also, I love how when I said Bertans was a positive on defense you showed his defensive on/off stat 5 games into the season saying that's better than DBPM. The take wasn't bad at all. You tried to compare DeRozan's rebounding to Bertans' by using rebounding rate, and that's wrong. It's not how the stat is supposed to be used. I explained that, and you decided to change the subject.I already explained the SF/PF thing and it was pretty clear. You are just salty because you realized you had an awful take for which you are getting rightfully gang banged so you are just trying to divert from that fact.![]()
No I didn't. I haven't even gone back to that thread, because I've been working massive overtime all week. This is my only night off until next Saturday, and I didn't really do much posting besides a couple of messages from my phone since last weekend. I didn't watch either game this week, so I honestly don't know who played where. I do think in general he spends most of his defensive possessions as a big and is usually closer to the rim than DeRozan is. Regardless, Rudy's rebounding rate is a lot higher than Bertans' is.BTW, you still didn't answer who played SF the other night, Gay or Bertans.

Gasol with the airball.![]()
Davis just did the "smitty" and then passed to Gasol for easy layup.
Spurs fastbreaks have to be the worst in the NBA.
Yeah I have no idea what the they're doing half the time and I don't think they do either.
