I don't get it, Gasol has sucked the last two years.
CJ Miles can't shoot anymore so that's a non issue. But Val before his injury looked great against the Heat in '16 and clearly has more of an upside. Marc if healthy is still a solid piece for these playoffs. I don't think it hurts the Raps but it might not help them either.
Weird trade, trying to keep Kawhi obviously
East rankings:
Bucks
Raps
Boston
Philly
At least two teams that will keep Boston out of the Finals. Me likey.![]()
I don't like Gasol, but it's a no-brainer move IMO..
It's essentially JV for Gasol, which is worth it 10/10..the former isn't worth anything, his ceiling is low..at least with Gasol, you can hope that he'll have a resurgence with a much better team..
Their window is closed this summer...I guess Ujiri is like why the not tbh..
100
Kawhi is going to be a Clipper, it's a lock..this is an all-in move, makes sense, they only need Gasol to play well for 4-5 months, which should be fine at his age..
Raptors might as well go all in, good move imo.
lol @ this arms race between Toronto and Philly, all for the right to lose 4-1 in the Finals![]()
This is why it's a bad trade , IMO. Have to look at the big picture and try to put yourself in a good position when Golden State falls apart. I don't get trading away a guy who's eight years younger for a player who's only marginally better at this point
Unfortunately the Warriors are still clearly above every team, the West is trash and the 4 teams in the East that could give GSW some trouble will cannibalize themselves in the playoffs.
Raptors defense gonna be solid and besides they at so desperate to keep kawhi
Kawhi will submarine the raptors so that he can leave in free agency ala Durant. Book it.
Embiid feasts against Marc and struggles with Valenciunas.
-Raps fans
All they need is for one of Curry/Durant to suffer a season-ending injury.
Obviously too late now, but Masai should have tried to get another deal with the Grizzlies in a trade around Lowry and Conley. I feel like that would have gotten them over the hump once and for good.
a fairly reffed game and Rockets take them down last year.
Pretty much. Statswise they haven’t been that different this year, and JV does it in like half the minutes
I wouldn't go by stats. Gasol right now is still clearly better than Valanciunas. Much better passer, can stretch the D with his shot, better defender, and not slow as molasses on the block or with decision making. JV has pretty much reached his ceiling tbh.
Wouldn't be my first 'all-in' move, but it's clearly an improvement.
Gasol was brought in to help with Philly's TOP center
Boban!
