Maybe the NBA could rig it like they did for Cleveland the four years after Lebron left.

Now at 12, in case people were wondering. Would have been 14 had they held on to beat the Bulls.

Anyway, how do people feel about Brandon Clarke, the OTHER forward on Gonzaga? Dude is killing it statistically, near the lead in blocks and steals while holding his own in points and rebounds. From what I've read, he's a mobile shot-blocker/dunker type who's a little less skilled than you'd like in a modern-day forward. He's also going to be 23 when next season starts, and that should hurt his stock. I don't see him falling to the Toronto pick, though mid-20s wouldn't surprise me.

Can he be better than Hachimura? A direct comparison between their stats suggests Clarke's having the better year, but Hachimura playing more minutes suggests the coach values him more. Rui's also a year-and-a-half younger than Brandon. At worst, though, Clarke adds another option should there be a run on forwards to start the draft like there was a run on bigs last season.

All I care about is that it's a legit SF, not SG or PF, who's a good defender and has a 3-point shot, so you can play him immediately and don't have to park him in the G-League like Pop usually does

Pop will probably park anybody without generational type talent in the GLeague specially if they sign Rudy back but no one should bank on Chip fixing anyone's shot. He helped Kawhi but Kawhi put up a lot of time during the lockout and did all the reworking past a consult on his own during the lockout. If you want a shooter draft a shooter. If it's someone who needs to rework his shot it might turn out not like you expected.

The best road for the Spurs is to lose and get into the lottery and get lucky into a high draft pick. Watching the draft lottery and draft night will be more fun than watching the Spurs get crushed in the first round.

Grant Williams brings obvious comparisons to DeJuan Blair due to their height and position. But if anything, looking at Williams' highlights makes me remember how good Blair was in college and how much it sucked that his ACLs went AWOL. Dude had Williams' agility and skill-set while also having a wider frame and longer arms. Both of those things allowed Blair to score much more easily in the post and get better position for boards. It's hard to really see the upside in Williams, because he doesn't seem to have perimeter skills. His height isn't great, but it's not an automatic deal-breaker in the a league where teams rarely play two guys over 6-10. But he doesn't shoot well and really can't play anything smaller than the four from what I see. His defensive numbers are strong, though, so I guess that means he finds a way to make a difference, and his assists numbers are pretty good for a college big. He's also just a really good scorer, and you really can't overlook having guys who can put the ball in the bucket. If Williams can do that consistently against NBA bodies, he'll have a niche.

I wouldn't want to pick him at 19, but with the Toronto pick? Yeah, why not? He's not close to my favorite PF in the draft, even after excluding the guys Tankathon projected to be gone by 19. But he does seem like a guy the Spurs could randomly build up into a solid rotation player, and the front court needs some of those in the pipeline.

I thought we only got the pick if it was 20 and up?

    spurs 7th at 33-27. clippers 8th at 32-27.

lakers 10th at 29-29, i definitely expect them to make the POs though.

it's too bad porzingis isn't healthy enough to play to help push the spurs outta the PO picture...

Clippers will tank to miss the playoffs to keep their draft pick.

The Spurs aren't missing the playoffs.

Imagine the clippers are actually tanking and the spurs aren’t and they barely have a better record than them.

yeah, i’m not a real fan... my personal agenda is for the spurs to get a higher draft pick instead of being 1st round fodder.

I mean, yeah,i get it.Wishing an injury to the Spurs best player the last two years just to go from 18th pick to 14th pick makes you one of the greatest supporters this franchise has rooting for them!
