That's the reason. They value more the pick than a sweep in 1st round. Opinable, but legitimate.
I think that it's a no brainier when choosing between a sweep and getting a lottery pick tbh. They also added two more first rounders (Philly 2020 and Miami 2021)
That is a net gain of 3 first's to get rid of Harris who is bound to get overpaid. Them and the Knicks managed to fleece the 76ers and the Mavs tbh.

Clippers are making way for the lakers to qualify to the playoffs. In addition, they are thinking of the future having to acquire kawhi, KD or any superstar they could lure to play for them.
Clippers don’t give a rats ass one way or the other about the Lakers, they just want to keep their draft pick this year. If they make the playoffs, Boston gets it.
spurs ed up, shouldve trade kawhi to clippers for harris + 14 + 15th pick.... then dump harris into draft picks...
