Would be my preference actually. He'll stay only a bi-annual nuisance and the reminders of him will be about as far away as possible.

But if he doesn't I'll take comfort in knowing he had to leave 70M on the table to get where he ultimately wanted to go. And that Toronto mortgaged their future for a rental.

Btw, I fully expect that he will leave Toronto. I just hope he doesn't. It's really a win-win either way.

toronto has no future if kawhi leaves after 1yr rental

    hence lol gasol trade

lol that raptors team aint going nowhere even with lowey, siakam, oyunobi or whatever, they arent franchise players who can carry a team...more like scrubs on national tv pushed down viewers throats

There were lots of not so subtle shots toward SA from the Toronto side regarding SA being a backwater that Kawhi needed to get out of and to an international city. Let me be clear And yet, historically they've been the team that had trouble keeping players. And of course, there's the angle that if he did leave I wouldn't feel as bad about what we got in return the for their only one year rental of him.

I agree. But the whole situation was a sandwich. So, I'm going to look at this as taking a bite of the sandwich on the corners where there's no . It'll still stink, but at least perhaps it's possible not to have to eat .

I meant how did they mortgage their future? They salary dumped DeRozan and only gave up irrelevant draft picks..

They're clearly going all in this year as they made clear in the recent trade period. Going all in for AD and then ultimately getting Gasol show me they are screwed when Kawhitter leaves. Gasol is owed $25M player option next year and has a $10M trade kicker. They reportedly tried to trade Lowry who will be likely request a trade this offseason since he's reportedly unhappy. And even if he stays he's owed $33.3M. And they've traded all but 1 of their second round draft picks through 2024 plus this year's #1.

Well once it was clear he wanted out and we were losing him regardless, it didn't set us back one bit. We got screwed by Kawhi hard with his BS trying to force his way to one city. So getting a first plus Poeltl, and the cheaper version between Lowry and DeRozan were wins.

What future? 1 year of Kawhi is better than 2 years of Demar. If we had
traded Siakam sure. But the Spurs got nothing of value.

Siakam 44 and 10, OG 22 and 5 Raptors win without Kawhi. At this point I would have taken Siakam rather than getting DDR.

Raptors were never gonna give Siakam or OG. We need to find our own Siakam through the draft.
