Yep, and oddly neither of them won... some noname from the Pacers, Fred Jones (was a supporting character in Malice at the Palace next year) pulled the win out of his ass.
Bingo. This is Argument A.
Argument B is that the league/media has pussified the rules to where you get virtually unlimited attempts and unlimited abortions. Back in 2004 and before, the dunk contest had proper rules. Only 3 misses (rim stuffs) per round, so one per dunk plus one extra. And the 30 second shot clock. Unlimited abortions, but if you ran out of time you got a zero. If you ran out of misses you got like a 25-30. Those rules actually made the dunk contest legit.
The beginning of the end of the dunk contest was in 2005 when they changed to unlimited everything which featured the Birdman/Josh Smith fiasco and it kept just getting worse from there.
Argument C is of course Apalisoc's argument, but that falls flat because just because a dunk has been done before 20 years ago doesn't mean the judges will remember that on the fly and will most likely judge the dunk for itself.
