As a business owner, you should be extremely vigilant of the conflict of interest politicians might have, especially at the local level. What if a former Amazon executive gets elected to your city's council, representing your ward? Next thing you in' know, plans for a fulfillment center are in the works near your business' location. Know what happens next? Your landlord is raising your lease. They might even try to drive you out so they replace you with a Starbucks or Panera Bread.
That's how taxes work. He might not even have filed his 2015 return at the time he released 2014's.

it might effect others but i'd welcome the change of scenery tbh. i operate out of a room so it's not much for me to up and find a new spot except licensing is a bit of a hit to the pocket. however, i totally get what you're saying and can see bigger businesses getting hit hard by such things.
