Never seen a spurs player outside the arena before but in the past 3 months after moving to the IH10 camp bullis area I’ve seen dejounte at dezavala wal mart , Timmy at CVS dominion and Bryn at a Shavano Park gas station. I definitely wussed out of saying what’s up to tim tho the other day 😂 Tim seemed nice though he was just shopping for groceries and getting snacks during the day on a Friday. Also Lonnie walker walking his dog by the rim . #gospursgo

So, I‘m a vet and was at SA for training. Let me tell you, I was super psyched for that.. until I found out we weren’t allowed to be off post during the weekdays. I was really looking forward to watching the spurs(preseason but whatever) on their own court, but never did get to do it. This was back in ‘15 when they’d just signed LA.

Used to work at the Academy at 1604 and Gold Canyon when I was an undergrad (like 2004-2006). George Gervin used to come in all the time...probably every week or two. Would spend like an hour just looking at all the boating stuff. Usually didn't buy anything, just browsed. Super nice guy.

Devin Brown came in one day and bought a ton of watersports stuff (tubes, rafts, goggles, etc.) Probably going out to the lake or something. I didn't get to talk to him, though, as he checked out on a different register.

Also met Tim at the Silverado theatre up by 1604 and Bandera. I was using the bathroom and this monstrous guy steps up to the urinal next to me...sure enough it's Timmy D. Talked to him and Amy in the lobby for a quick bit...this was right after the Spurs had lost to the Mavericks in 2006. I told him that he played great and the city was still behind him...he seemed to appreciate that. We ended up in the same theater as him to watch The Da Vinci Code.

Thats pretty cool. My experience with Timmy is also at a movie theater but only because I used to work at Northwoods movie theaters 281/1604 between 2002-2004. He came in 2002, a little after losing against the Lakers in the playoffs.
It was a typical Saturday afternoon. Lines were long. Busy everywhere. I was 16 y.o. and was ripping peoples tickets and letting them know where the theater is. Most of the time i would have my head down so i could see the ticket then i would look up just to tell the person where to go. Then as i was looking down, i see a huge hand come out holding a movie ticket and then i hear a voice i recognize. Lo and behold its Tim Duncan with a buddy of his. I rip his ticket and tell him where to go. Then i ignore the next customer and continue to stare down Duncan until he entered the theater. I couldn't believe my eyes that he was just there. And he had just won MVP that year so in my head i kept thinking. OMG the NBA's MVP just stood in my line. Whats funny is that he had one of those one strap backpacks where the strap goes across your body. People were not allowed to take backpacks into the theater but i was not about to tell him something lol

BTW i kept his ticket stub (the part where we would usually put into a box.) good times lol

Oh and sidenote: Parker, SJax, Malik Rose, Sean Elliott were all visitors to Northwoods during my time there. I loved that job for that reason alone.

I live in Charlotte so I was at all-star weekend. I met Bruce Bowen at a bar the NBA set up for the festivities. He was very classy and I talked to him for a few minutes before he left.

Last season I ran into Danny Green and Bryn Forbes at Al ude Trampoline Park at Huebner and I-10.. Said what's up to Bryn and his fat GF and he seemed surprised he was recognized.. Danny worked with the staff to avoid interacting with us "peasants" and basically wherever he went the staff closed off the area so he could enjoy it exclusively with his goty friends.

That pussy knew better than to with me in some dodgeball.

Devin Brown used to frequent some bar off Vance Jackson at 410.. it's Shenanigans now, I don't remember what it was then.. But dude went in there one night and bought out the ing bar.. Talk about making a bar full of friends quick as

Man, I used to go to that theater all the time in that timeframe...It was like our high school hang out spot.

Most likely we crossed paths there before.

at you San Antonio residents who don't live on the north/northwest.. You don't see any Spurs players there because your side of town sucks and nobody wants to be surrounded by ghetto trash

Randomly saw Danny Greem at Jims (I-10 and Huebner) once. He was in a white Mercedes and parked in the middle of the road and got out of his car, picked up his order (walked right past me lol) and went back to his car. Took me a second to realize it was him and then had me thinking why the is he eating at Jims?

I saw Blair at whataburger (no lie),

Recently saw Lonnie at the HEB at dezevala, he had his dog with him and nobody said . Wasn't even a service dog.

Got Ginobilis autograph and I've shaken Icemans hand. Huge hands.

But if you get the chance, you need to see David Robinson in person. Just the biggest person ever. I saw him in his prime at Target and he was full muscle and didn't fit through the door big. But the nicest person ever. Really gave me a perspective on how amazing these NBA athletes are bc I'm telling you this, you couldn't pay me enough to try and guard that mammoth in his prime.

Before season started I saw Rudy Gay at Salata at Heuber Oaks and Dejonte at Zios at the Rim during the same week in August.

I'm also told that Rudy Gay lives near me, but have yet to see him.

And I have a wife named Marina Svetlana Borschtistosvika who's a spy for Putin. She makes $80,000/6 million rubles a week as an online bikini model, but she's about to be taking a little time off because she's now 8 weeks pregnant with my half Soviet child inside of her.

I was waiting for "Brynn Forbes was at the gas station - and when he saw that the unleaded pump was out of service - he just dropped his shoulders and frowned and shook his head. He looked crushed!"

Back in 2015, i saw nephew and Cory Joseph outside of a Strip Club in SF. I was outside waiting for a cab and suddenly a big tall guy comes out of the club and everyone started yelling his name, but he got in a car immediately. Cory was talking to a few people and one of the guys who was with nephew rushed him and they left.

The following year, i also saw Patty and Boris in a bar in SF.

I lived in SA my entire childhood until I was 19 and off to college. Went out a lot, didn't see a single Spur except for games and the time my mom took me and my friends to a kids' one night stand up convention thingy in a basketball gym that featured Popovich, Devin Brown and Jason Hart talking about how important it is to make good grades in school, say no to drugs and follow through when shooting a jump shot etc.

Never randomly ran into any celebrity in my life, except for the time Bill Clinton randomly picked me up at Mount Rushmore in 1999... true story.

I lived on the north side of town about 5 minutes away from the rim. There are a lot of Spurs players in that area. Danny Green went to the same club a lot so you probably could've gone out and seen him while he was with us. Tbh these guys do their own shopping and it isn't that unusual to see them at like Lowes or Target. Pop was Christmas shopping at La Cantera this year for instance.

I was at La Cantera a grand total of once. January 1st, 2013 to pick out a suit and tie from a Joseph A. Banks, for senior prom, but my mom couldn't afford it so we got one at the Macy's instead. Lol. I didn't end up going to prom, anyway. Didn't want to alone, because I didn't have a GF at the time, my older friend (Alyssa Bernal) was too busy with her singing career, and another 20 y/o friend who we knew didn't want to go with me because she had a BF. Whatever.

It/SixFlags/UTSA is like 20 miles north-northwest of where I grew up (5 mins southeast of SeaWorld). Didn't meet a single Spurs player at Sea World, Ingram Mall, or any of the places/restaurants around that area my whole childhood, bummer.

I always grew up jealous of all the kids who got to grow up on the Northwest/North/Live Oak sides of town. I felt like a fish out of water growing up on the Far West/SW side as a white kid basically in the *hood*. Meh. At least I got to be the *smart* kid in HS... well, that was a curse more than a blessing socially there, but whatever.

dope ! I remember when Alyssa Bernal was coming up. I think Pharrell noticed her around that time. Yeah man I feel you. I feel like now inner city SA is getting better - patty mills lives in Southtown and I heard of a Bryn forbes sighting at squeezebox off st Mary’s Lol. But yeah man growing up in the hood is a humbling experience and makes you a go getter especially compared to en led spoiled kids.
