If They want to blame anyone, blame themselves.
Rich Paul and Lebron tried to strong arm a small market team and it backfired big time. The teams are basically saying no to superstars bending them over backwards and get out of guanranteed deals.
If you want financial security, you sign for a long term deal and honour it. If you have reservations about management and want to have maximum flexibility then sign a shorter term deal. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Teams are not obligated to do whatever a power agent force them to do. Teams doesn’t have to give into the leverage the lakers have everytime. And no, not trading the best player in franchise history for a bunch of scrubs isn’t bad faith. It’s common sense.

Tbh they are the worst franchise when it comes to player development. Could just be the city of LA itself is a hard one for young guys to be focused. But D-Bust and Randle were high draft picks that LA wasted and never really developed.
Lonzo is a waste of a pick too. He has talent but his shot is so broken and he refuses to change it. I mean imagine a guy shooting 41% from the free throw line actually having the balls to say to management that his shot is fine and since it's worked for him his whole life it will continue to work for him now in the NBA.
They have no power within the building. And that includes Magic. Nobody saw him play. He doesn't hold the same weight as he once did. I mean Imagine a player telling Pop: hey I know you say my jumper needs to be fixed but I disagree and I'm going to double down by not working on it at all during the offseason. Pop would cuss him out, bench him, cuss out his dad, and then make Lonzo beg to play again.
What LA needs is a Magic to realize he has talent already. Develop it and add real pieces to the team and not ty players on one year contracts.

You know what I find funny is that the media tried to pin the blame on Pop weeks back. I don't doubt that Demps contacted pop. The conversation was probably centered on not folding on a deal of poor value and getting the best value for the franchise.
Essentially the Lakers don't want to be challenged on what they have been doing for years unchecked. Small market teams are now standing their ground and not caving to the Laker pressure, or the pro Laker media pressure, and that is simply unacceptable to Magic and Jeanie, so they have the audacity to cry foul...funny stuff really.
I believe we do know that Pop and Demps talked. I do think Pop advised not caving.

Waiting for the draft and free agency to happen is the best move for New Orleans-- it gives them the greatest amount of options. At this point, it just makes sense. One perfect example: in the unlikely event that Kawhi agrees to re-sign with Toronto, they're more likely to offer Siakam in a trade for AD. If also gives them the option of sign-and-trades with free agents.
