White is learning how to think 2-3 steps ahead on offense and I love it. He's already at the level where he sees a teammate open on the wing but also sees the rotate man cheating a bit in the corner and will make the 2nd pass option to his teammate in the corner instead of the wing which completely catches the defender off guard and allows a wide open shot/drive.

Also once White learns how to initiate contact more on his pump fakes, he will be beyond deadly. Luckily for him, he can learn from perhaps the 2nd best player in the league at drawing contact in Demar. The Spurs desperately need a 3rd person who can consistently get to the line and get us free points.

White reminded me of a poor man's James Harden in the G-League and I'm so glad his game transferred over into the NBA. What I didn't know was how great a defender he is. I guess him averaging so many blocks in college was no fluke.

What is the obsession with people thinking Porzingis is a game changer? Dude is injury prone and overrated. I'd take prime Lamarcus over Porzingis any day. The only reason people here love the dude is because this site has a hard for Euro scrubs.
U see what a 40+ years old Dirk did today? Now picture him 12 years younger, faster and taller.

I would like to see Bertans subs ute Forbes in the starting lineup
Bertans is not a starter folks just don't learn. We're undefeated since he got benched, after going like 3-10 with him starting...

    Absolute facts

"35 & 5 blocks on any single night"

I'd take the duo of Young and Collins over them any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Thanks for the grades Timvp. Happy for the grueling win. But this slam summed it up for me. Davis has really expanded his game.

The thing I have noticed about Bertans is that nobody gets him the ball when he rolls off a P&R. He often gets a step on his defender and if the guard would just put the ball up high he could be an asset going to the hoop. Been happening for years. Does he have terrible hands or something. If I was him, I'd be talking to someone about it.

This wasn't a good win at all. Doncic was on one leg, but White certainly defended superbly. And that was it, basically. Everything else was quite ty, for both teams. Mavs can't stop anybody with the lineups they are forced to play, especially guards. In fact both White and DDR could go to the basket anytime they wanted. Unfortunately, this was true also for Brunson (BTW he is good, he played well the whole season).

It is the norm with the Spurs especially on away games, but I still find it unacceptable to go up double digits against bad teams only to let them get back into the game a lose it or risk losing it. Two Dallas shots were in-and-out the last 90 seconds.

The only good thing is that White got the ball at closing even if DDR was having a good shooting night (only the shooting, nothing else) thanks to the non-existent Mavs defense.

Hopefully the coming home game against the worse team in the league will allow trying some new funky defenses and maybe play more Eubanks -he needs some minutes if Pop wants him to help down the stretch.

I was hoping Clippers would win, to try going for 6th seed -Utah will run away, the only hope is Portland losing steam.

Because he doesn't jump. I've seen him few times get the ball inside and be plastered. He is not a threat on the roll, but he is a good screen setter so he makes the screen and rolls away towards the corners or to set another screen.

timvp, I think that was the first grades thread where you failed to call the Spurs the "good guys". Have you quit on the team? Did your uncle write the grades? Do you demand to be traded to Lakersground?

White did an incredible job on Doncic. But even if he does that every game next year, who is going to handle Porzingis? And that duo may be enough to get some FA's to come and chase a ring. If the Mavs play their cards right, they could be serious contenders next year and for years after that.
Truth nuke. I'd rather have the Mavs roster than ours right now.

Just imagine if they signed Boban as backup center, too.

Pop probably had Mills in there in crunch time to try and see if he can hit a clutch bucket or two. But he didn't, so the decision looked worse. To be fair, even though his defense has been really bad this year, he has had the tendency to hit clutch buckets for the team.

Mavs future is definitely bright with those two for sure. Cuban knew when he was doing getting Doncic, and getting the Unicorn in that trade was FO of the year material.

How much better would the Spurs be with Murray in there to close out games? We don't protect leads very well because we can't play defense. Murray and White will be a great guard tandem in those situations next season.

Thanks for the grades! A great win on the road for us! I liked seeing us close strong.
