I was curious about this too, and idk why I didn’t put two and two together but San Antonio has the rodeo usually at the same time of the year as the all star weekend
I’m curious to know what goes on to all of this. We’ve had one before and it’s been almost 25 years since. What has to happen for one?

I've checked the weather forecast for , and there are no freezes predicted in our lifetimes.
If we did host I would actually assume it would be at the Alamodome. Just like final four. That's not played at the att center but at the dome.
Still remember walking around the all-star event in SA. Good times. Not sure how the events look nowadays though. SA is due.

The rodeo and the Spurs share the same building now and the rodeo takes place during Allstar week.
OT but the rodeo should be put down (across the country). it's sad how popular it is.
the at&t center is in an awful location...
sa would've hosted another all star game by now if they were still playing downtown. there is nothing to do near the the at&t center.
Animal rights activ gots should be put down tbh.

You can go to Region Twenty (XX) where the public school teachers of SA take their trainings. Or, walk around Jim street and maybe get mugged by an old black dude.
If the AT&T was downtown, we would have had one by now, maybe even two.. the NBA is not gonna bring their festivities here with the arena in the hole eastside IMO

Would they do it again? Personally love the city (not counting Spurs fandom as bias) but doesn’t seem sexy enough. But then again, I guess they are doing Cleveland in a couple years

It was there, or Seattle. The City's downtown arena plan was dead on arrival, because, due to hotel industry pressure, they were funding it with a SALES tax increase. That was never going to pass a public vote. If the county, and rodeo, hadn't stepped in, we may well have lost the team to another city. THEY were funding using a hotel/motel and rental car tax. Voters never care about taxing OTHER people, especially out of towners.
