Who can show me a game roster showing Clark at TE?

Here is an actual game. There we see Clark where, yep....WR.

No cards listing him as a TE, no rosters listing him as a TE, no game footage showing him as the starting TE/just WR.

This is actually a SLAMDUNK, not even close. Clark is without question a WR.

1980s all football players were smaller... we had 200 pound MLBs for crying out loud. 300 lbs was considered the upper limit for a huge run stuffing 3-4 nose tackle.

What about all those actual game videos of those Niner games showing Clark playing WR?

    What about all his cards....WR?

What about this Niner fan who can talk ever Nner ever knowing he was a WR?

Got this off the Niners site.

However, while looking through the 49ers history, I noticed that there really haven't been that many great tight ends wearing the red, white and gold. As I've said repeatedly, I think Vernon Davis will reach that elite level at some point, but until then, the compe ion at the all-time TE position is scarce. Accordingly, I've decided to not even hold a vote. Simply put, Brent Jones is the best tight end in 49ers history and it's not all that close. Jones leads all 49ers tight ends in receptions, yards, touchdowns and Pro Bowl appearances and ranks in the top among all 49ers receivers in receptions, yards and touchdowns.

While Jones was never overrated as a tight end, I don't think he would qualify as underrated. I can't imagine anybody not recognizing the talent of Brent Jones and his major contributions during the 49ers glory days. He earned 3 Super Bowl rings and made four trips to the Pro Bowl. The 49ers had great receivers in Rice and Taylor and a great rushing/receiving threat in Roger Craig, but the importance of Jones to the West Coast offense is considerable. Throw in a streak of 125 consecutive games and you've got not only a franchise great, but an all-time great.

    Honorable Mentions
: Like I said, there is not a lot in the way of tight end talent in 49ers history. Ted Kwalick was a 3-time Pro Bowler at tight end in the early 70s, while Russ Francis was the primary TE and immediate predecessor of Brent Jones. I really thought Eric Johnson might have worked his way onto this type of list, but injuries have derailed him and now he's off in New Orleans. If Vernon Davis can continue to improve (he did improve his receptions and yards from year 1 to year 2), I don't see why he won't pass Brent Jones in the 49ers record books. Davis is a receiving tight end who is immensely athletic and could become the primary target of Smith/Hill/whomever. But that's an argument for another day.

Where is Dwight Clark, what.....not even an honorable mention?

Why is he ranked third on that site at WR?

Judge.....I see Mr. Avant with a mountain of evidence proving that Dwight Clark was a WR. He has everything we could ask for, videos, cards, magazines, newspapers, rosters, WIKI, what more is there? Mr.Blake as nothing close to that, a feeble...Joe said....some obvious mistakes made by some reporters.

How funny was witness Spurraider with his......jump way ahead in the that video showing Clark at WR to ....see there he is at TE....hahaha~~ (the court laughs)

There is nothing left to do here but proclaim Dwight Clark a WR and Mr. Avant was right. I have to ask however....Mr. Blake you didn't know Mr, Avant was a long time Niner fan? He can talk Billy Wilson but can't talk Dwight Clark, think about that.

Ok, here is that dagger in the heart.

George Kittle breaks Vernon Davis’s single season 49ers record for most receiving yards by a tight end

Davis had 965 yards in a season, the most ever by a Niner TE. Dwight Clark has a 1105 season, so if he were a TE that would have been the record, right?

That should put an end to this silliness. All of us who know football knew Clark was never a TE.

    Blake, it's time,ok? How about.....ok ok ok I was wrong...ok?

    Let's reveiw

Game videos showing Clark at WR, none showing him at TE.

Football cards showing Clark as a WR, none showing him as a TE

Niner rosters listing Clark as the WR, none listing him as a TE.

Clark averaging over 13 yards a reception, that is better than any of the great TE's in decades.

Niner site talking the best Niner TE's, no Clark mentioned.

Same site talking the best Niner WR, Clark at number three.

George Kittle breaking the yards records for a Niner TE, he breaks the 965 yard record held by Vernon Davis, Clark has a 1105 season, if a TE that would have been the record.

All the evidence is there. Who can't see that Dwight Clark was a WR?

    Add

Kellen Winslow was a GREAT TE, his career avg per catch....12.5, his best season 14.5.

He was a far better player than Dwight Clark, yet, here are Clarks numbers...13.3/16.9.....how can that be, Winslow is in the Hall of Fame. Could it be....Clark has WR numbers and Winslow has TE, ya think?

And, Clark was a 212 pounder, that's kinda light for TE.

Tony Gonzalez is considered the greatest TE to ever play the game, his numbers are staggering, BUT......

He averaged 11.4 yards a catch, his best season ever a 12.9.

    Clark had that 13.3/16.9.

So Dwight Clark as a TE had more yards than Winslow and Gonzalez per catch? Try..nope. He had a WR average, not a TE.

How could anyone not get this?

    NY Times Magazine

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...ght-clark.html

The play that led to the pass that led to The Catch was called Sprint Right Option. The primary target was the speedy Freddie Solomon; the second was Dwight Clark, a wide receiver no one except the San Francisco 49ers’ coach, Bill Walsh, thought could be an N.F.L. star. The Clark option rarely worked in practice — Joe Montana would throw the ball too high or too low. Targeting Solomon was typically a better bet, except in the last minute of the fourth quarter on that chilly January night at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, when Solomon slipped on the soggy grass.
It was 1982, and the San Francisco 49ers were still “lovable losers destined to break your heart,” recalls the longtime sportswriter and N.F.L. Network analyst Michael Silver, who grew up a 49ers fan. The Dallas Cowboys, the 49ers’ opponent in that night’s N.F.C. championship game, had dominated the previous decade and reeked of the imperiousness that came with being anointed “America’s Team.”

    I saved this for last.

    Go here

    https://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/niners/

It is real easy to register, takes about 20 minutes to get back to your e-mail.

Now ask those Niner fans......What position did Dwight Clark play......you won't see one...TE. And, if somebody did....TE...watch how many "nope, you are wrong".

I can talk Gary Lewis, Vic Washington, Paul Hofer, Delvin Williams, Ricky Patton, talk Niners from the 40's but don't know what position Dwight Clark played, hahahahaha~~~~~~~~~~~

Niner mug, Niner cap, Niner clock, Niner ruler, Niner coasters, Niner book, Niner pencils, but don't know where Dwight Clark played, hahahahaha~~~~~~~~~~~

Former Idaho basketball R.C. Owens could jump. So he lined up right under the crossbar, yep, gonna jump up and bat down a FG. Yep, he batted down a FG. I know that Niner (with the Colts) lore but not where ......

    R. C. Owens’ one-of-a-kind field-goal block

A couple of years ago, when R. C. Owens died, newspapers mentioned the unusual way he’d once blocked a field goal try for the Colts. From his New York Times obituary:
In 1962, the 6-foot-3 Owens wowed fans by standing under the goal post at the goal line (goal posts have since been moved to the back of the end zone) and leaping to block a long, line-drive field-goal attempt by the Washington Redskins. The tactic was legislated out of existence.
Unfortunately, none of Owens’ obits featured a photo of his amazing play, perhaps because papers couldn’t find one. I ran into the same problem 25 years ago when I was digging up art for my first book, The Pro Football Chronicle. Nobody had kept the negative — or something.
Too bad. As you can see, R. C. really got up there. He was already on his way down (along with the ball) when this was snapped. Don’t ask me where it came from.

Owens the first Niner to have a 1000 yard season, he and QB Y.A. tle famous for the Alley Oop pass. le throwing oi high, Owens jumping over everyone to snag it.

George Kittle broke the Niner yards record last season, he broke a 965 yard record held by Vernon Davis.

Dwight Clark had a 1105 season, now think.......why wasn't that the TE yards record, well?
