Nice find. Many thanks.
Gives one hope for Spurs....
very good analysis of the best defensive sequence of the game and other posessions. Aldridge doesn't get enough credit for his defense. DeRozan also played great D. Spurs have the 2nd best defense in the NBA during the 9 game win streak
Nice find. Many thanks.
Gives one hope for Spurs....
Thanks for posting. spurs team d was on most of the game. They were soft in the keyway when dealing with the switch on the pnr but that was the only real weakness . Overall great effort and as Legs pointed out "attention to detail" was there. LaMarcus on full display in the highlight vids.
KLAY can suck an egg.
Choads were ing about open shots GSW was getting, but they always get those shots. It's impossible to guard them perfectly, they spread you out so much.
Thanks for sharing. I rewatched that play after the derozan turnaround a few times wondering how Livingston got so open. That was blown coverage by Bertans that shoulda been 2 points in 2 seconds.
Spurs played good defense, no doubt but GS missed tons of wide open shots they’d normally make.
These excuses need to stop, especially from our own fans. Curry hit a 61 footer so we shouldn't hear about them missing shots.
Curry shot .333 from 3P last night. That was the 7th time in the last 10 games he's shot .333or lessfrom 3P. Thompson shot .444 from 3P, and he had shotworsethan that in 6 out of his last 10 outings. They didn't have exceptional games, but if they did that every game it wouldn't be exceptional. Durant was 0-4 from 3P last night, but he's only shooting .315 from distance this season. Guys who shoot .315 have nights when they go 0-4.
People have the idea that the Dubs are immortals. They aren't - I would know. They shoot that average often enough, and still win. If they had been unconscious shooting it would have been different. But if Bertans had been hitting 3's, it would have been a blowout.
The Spurs earned the win. GSW didn't gift it to them.
It's nice to see DeMar learning how to play D. Last night, He ran so hard on D to prevent Klay's fastbreak. It's getting exciting. Go Spurs!
GSW missed shots is the dumbest thing to say when they shoot bad against us. Like this is the first time. We held them to 79 points in 2016. Spurs always defend the Dubs well
I like to think the spurs can "shut down" GS but It's just not possible. Spurs did everything right and they did what they could to cover the 3pt shot. Even with all that effort the dubs managed to get open shots. All it takes is for one of them to knock down a 3 and they're suddenly on a run. That's the scary part about playing GS. Teams have very little room for error when they're at their best. Spurs are very disciplined on D and they managed to bother steph and klay last night but I still just don't see them beating GS in a 7 game series. Spurs would have to play perfect every game
I think smart teams have realized that Draymond Green is done being an offensive threat. Just put draymonds man on Klay, Durant, Steph when they have the ball late on the shot clock and play the odds.
Spurs good D?
Not according to Klay. They just missed shots.
Hmm, interesting . I saw bertans, the #2 3pt shooter in the NBA make only 1 of 6. That ain't happening again. Especially if their that open. We just missed shots too. And still won.
So what you're saying is.... There's a chance!
Lets give credit to the Spurs tenacity. They could have folded in the 4th, but they dug in, kept pounding the rock, didn't make any turnovers or silly mistakes and they won. You can say that the Warriors made some unusal mistakes or didn't shoot as well as they can, but that's why hustling defense and poise can beat a superior team. The '99 Spurs had that quality. When they were behind in the 4th, they knew they had the opponent where they wanted him. They won so many games coming from behind, simply by pressuring the other team into misses and mistakes. This team isn't as good, but they are learning how to win. Go Spurs Go
Yap, sometimes it's the hounding that makes the shooter nervous and they rushed the shot fearing they will be covered the next sec throwing themselves off balance or not in their normal stance. So to us they seems to be open, but they already got the defenders in their mind.
Spurs would be fortunate to push that series to 5 games.
Nothing against the Spurs, the Warriors are just that good.

It is true. But the timing of the shots wasn't really there, due to Spurs defense. It is the same when Spurs shooters miss a ton of shots: being "open" is different than being "open in rythm and on-time" and the difference most of the times is the defense quality. I remember a couple of Curry shots wide open, but very difficult nonetheless, totally out of rythm.
Then of course, you are the Warriors, you are bound to make some anyway because the talent is there. But if the defense disrupts the rythm, they make less shots, even when they are open. Kudos to the coaching staff.
rest game. No LA, no DeRozan, no White
LMAO! Look at those bench minutes. How did the Spurs manage to score 102?
Agreed. In the past, Pop would pull his starters after he has seen what he’s looking for and leave it at the playoffs. Pop always know how to defend Dubs just a matter of getting the personnel execute. And last game was perfectly executed. In a 7 game series, Kerr would adjust and counter. I don’t know if Pop has enough personnel or experience to adequately adjust.
Pop is a wizard![]()
