    paying Manziel to play football
Have you seen their other QB’s play? I’d take Nathan Peterman over the they’re trotting out there right now.

I do think this league has a chance to survive simply because the NFL is behind it (like the NBA and the G League) rather than trying to kill it (like they do most renegade leagues).

    However . . .

Have you seen their other QB’s play? I’d take Nathan Peterman over the they’re trotting out there right now.
QBs not even at a major college level . . .

Our QB sucks tbh. But so do the QB’s for pretty much all these teams, minus Garrett Gilbert of the Apollos. QB play is def the most noticeable dropoff from the NFL. Lots of bad QB play.
When Garrett Gilbert is your league's marquee QB you're not strong at that position . . .

I wonder if Manziel really wants to play football anymore?

    This might actually happen

Football probably found a way to get out of his CFL contract just so he could come home.

And cutting Dalton Sturm was stupid af. He can't be any worse than what they're trotting out there and you also get the UTSA fanbase. That UNC QB they used their 1st pick on seems like a prototypical monkeyballer that can't throw worth a . Horrible pick. I feel like Sturm would've gotten a shot to see what he could do by now if they had just kept him as their back-up/3rd QB.

edit: Looks like Vaughan (is that guy injured?) not Williams was their first pick. Either way there's absolutely no reason why that monkeyballer should've been kept as the 3rd QB over the great Dalton Sturm.

Exactly. His name alone is a huge draw in the state of Texas and will well tickets. And for a brand new league, he’s exactly what it needs.

I really think so too tbh. Breaching his contract was only way to get out of it this season. He’s a sly guy, he’s knows what he’s doing tbh.

Commanders really playing solid football. Good to see. Maybe the NFL will expand.

A relegation/promotion, soccer-style system would be ideal. All the storied, consistent franchises would remain in the NFL and the perennial bottom dwellers that don't bring anything to the NFL either have an incentive to get their together or they get relegated to give promising up and comers like SA/ORL a shot.

    Not surprised.

It seems like the AAF started the league without a proper plan. They should have waited to get approval to be able to use NFL players as a development league and then started the league officially.

But at least we proved we can support a team.

Yeah this is kind of sad, tbh.

I was hoping the report that they were just trying to strong arm the NFLPA into allowing young NFL players to suit up in the AAF was true but it wasn't. XFL here we come?

It's always going to be a tough sell to get the players' association to let their members play in the spring. Why shut it down before this season's over if you have any thought of coming back?
