The lil general back in sa!!

Is it worth bringing him back to the Spurs fold? Maybe a spot on the coaching staff next year? I would prefer him replacing Mark Jackson when he takes the Lakers job![]()
The lil general back in sa!!
There’s a reason that he’s been coaching college, and not NBA. You people think Pop is a martinet, you haven’t seen Avery in action.
Isn't that essentially why he has been canned from all his HC gigs?
Yup. Much as Pop likes him, notice that he’s never offered him a spot when he’s lost a gig. His own teammates despised him. , Malik tried to beat him up in the showers one time.
his mavs team that beat the spurs was scary. they should’ve beaten the heat.
I had forgotten the Malik story. I wouldn’t be surprised if this were the end of the line for Avery - at least at the major college level. And I don’t see him ever coming back to the NBA.
Yep. Dallas wins that series 8 out of 10 times. But, alas, reality was in the other 20 percent
Oh, they fired him. When I read the le that he was "out", I expected something else.
"Martinet" is kind.
Avery still kicked Malik's ass from most accounts, tbh.
Yeah, not surprising. Pugnacious little prick who would have been one of my most hated players of all time had he not worn the silver and black.
Q: How do you know if someone is a evangelical Xtian nutcase?
A: Don't worry, they'll tell you
Some headlines said “fired” some said “buyout”. I would lean toward fired on this one. Avery’s son transferred to play under his father. I could never picture the lil’ general being “out”, seems the type to keep that in the closet.

As much as I hate the Mavs and detest Cuban, wasn't this the series where the officials really ed the Mavs so bad and so obvious, that Cuban was planning to sell the team afterwards in protest? He was talked out of it by Stern. Surprisingly they won the championship the next year.
Actually, it took 5 years. The screw job was in 2006, and they rung in 2011.
He'll be coaching the Lakers soon.
There is zero chance he will coach the Lakers.
Avery seems to burn out every team with his intense coaching style.
I think Avery would be the perfect grouchy uptight assistant coach for Ime Udoka. Udoka is the obvious head coach in waiting if Pop retires this season or next.
Avery is FAR too proud to ever take the second seat again.
How many times would his coach of the year award come up in a discussion with his head coach when his suggestions weren't being adopted?
Lonzo Ball
LeBron James, he of the many puppet HCs, says "hi".
you are right about that.
Someone will get a bump from the Spurs bench. Think it would be cool to get Avery back in the building, and maybe Avery could brush up with Pop on his X's and O's.
