Next you're going to tell me Ben Sasse, Jeff Flake, and Bob Corker were anti-Trump too because of their words?

Im not really sure what you mean here.
They are on the same team. And that team does control money after life in the legislature. So I imagine all would tread carefully.
But Im not sure of their financial situations.

McConnell did this because he knew it could play imo. He is very astute and knew the lingering anger of the white guy that thinks he has been done wrong. And then Obama possibly being more interested in his own popularity rather than his party. Im not condoning the fact that McConnell used the black man to foster the narrative of the middle class white guy losing ground economically, like Obama had somehow lifted up people of color at white expense.
What I am saying is that Democrats taking a rule changing step has now been used against them. So this means the blue team gotta play dirtier?

I dont believe this. Call Trump for what he is. But making up... People that vote for Trump and his ilk know he is lying, but they dont care as long as their prescriptions for a better white society are followed. And then of course the trickle down crap that the red team still believes.
Yes McConnell said to with having a working government and led the charge to breaking it. I'd really love to hear your explanation about how Harry Reid's November 2013 rule change caused Mitch McConnell to fundamentally change the senate in January 2009, which he absolutely did with his obstructionism. And yes blue team has to play dirty now since those are the new rules of the game and any other action would lead to complete dominance by the red team. McConnell set it all in motion and this hyperpartisanship will be his legacy.

Harry Reid started with the judge thing by going nuclear.
Only because McC was blocking, slow-walking ALL of Obama's nominations.

He did not fundamentally change anything.
He used fear to give his party an advantage and because he vocalized what is said by both parties behind closed doors.
This first is not new. The second was a political calculation that worked. He knew what the majority of the voting country was thinking.

So Harry Reid counters by changing rules.
Win the Senate and the House and the presidency. Elections matter.
    Like taking the House back.

So you become hyper partisan to counter it.
Does this include lying and trying to dismantle the press?

Are you honestly trying to tell me McConnell's unprecendented obstructionism wasn't a fundamental change to the senate? I'd put the blame on Harry Reid if he came and changed that rule in 2009 but it's McConnell who changed the senate that year. And yes the Democrats have to become obstructionists to the GOP in kind. Why should only GOP laws get passed? I don't know why you keep telling me about about shutting down the press. I mean Democrats shouldn't vote for any GOP nominee to the supreme court. I mean they should filibuster the GOP's agenda the same way the GOP did to the Democrats.

The most disgusting thing was when Ben Sasse talked about how credible he found Christine Blasey Ford right before he jumped in with his rant about the Democrats timing of the allegations going public to justify his vote for Kavanaugh. Now we can have a Supreme Court built in the image of our dysfunctional congress.

    The honest call imo:
McConnell's clearly stated goal to thwart Obama requires political backing from voters.
What happened to Congress while Obama won the presidency again?

If you are lauding then bashing McConnell's accurate reading of the voting public then Im with you.
But saying he McConnell initiated this is far from complete.
People believed it must be done.

This is my point. WE have a choice.
This is still being used against McConnell, heck I have used it.
But it requires nods from the voting public. He read this. He read the sentiment of the voting public. He stated out loud what he would attempt to do!
    So Harry Reid changes rules.

And this is all before Trump's surprise victory.
So now look at the situation. blue team thought it would be appointing SC nominees.
Now you got pond s like Chris and Spurter euphoric. And poor Ginsburg trying to hold on. Not to mention the overhaul at the lower level judgeships..

Blue team was appointing a SC nominee. The one red team asked for before because Obama was compromising. McConnell said compromise just like he had been doing since 2009. The fact that a lot of white people were angry about the scary negro president doesn't change the fact that McConnell was the one in power who made obstructionism the new normal.

They were not the only ones. There were other people in that room that believed her and voted for Kavanaugh.
And thats how bad partisanship can get. And would a Democrat follow the party line to get an ideological, but criminal, comrade in?
    Yep.

Lots of both sides conjecture instead of blaming the party that actually did it for a lifetime SC appointment.

There is no way he says this in public without the backing of his team and his team knowing their voters.
McConnell is not a stupid angry man who spouts off like the orange guy he is still learning how to manipulate.

If you are arguing Im not giving enough credit to his evil genius I can accept that. He had to have help. In fact I would say he plays it very safe.

Very important position that some senators are still convincing themselves he can be impartial even if he is a liar.

You dont want me to go through a list of Democrats gone bad and lying.

The Democrats would have likely pulled the nomination if in that situation. Senate Democrats forced their own Franken out for way less.

No he took a stand that looks bad right now.
    This is not over.
But he took a stand. I happen to think it was incorrect, but in 20 years... We might find out quite a bit about the lying child we have as a leader.
Schiff is a big boy. He had to know it was a stretch unless he has a completely different definition of collusion.
You all up Schiff's butt, bruh.

Trump still might be compromised to some extent given his huge debt in the past and the dirty ways he played with it. I could see this idiot being the first president to spend his retirement days in Russia getting paid as a megaphone for the weakness of US democracy. Give him a TV show.

Pelosi is the "pragmatic" one if we're talking about being keen to her corporate benefactors. She was far left; the slide of Dems is making her look like a centrist these days.

They had to because they championed the noble cause.
Im glad they did and Im glad he left.
A point for the blue team.

So this is what goes to the voters. You bring up playing fair, not being hypocrites, inclusion, listening to the other side, and you win.
Except you dont. So it does not work, you go dirty.

Imagine if this was some new political movement and we are discussing this in some back room about how we need to take power to further the good fight.
Im a dead man and considered more dangerous than the enemy because... maybe I say we can do this without extreme behavior, and surely I would blunt the fervor of the entire movement. I am the worst antagonist.
