Maybe we can at least until one.
This year's Nuggets team is a very capable team. They can easily win over this version of the Spurs who don't even play defense tbh
Maybe we can at least until one.
because spur fan never learns -
they are already looking all the way to WCF
smh
What's the point of being a "fan" of a team if you just want to all over them?
I don't understand the "joy" of being a miserable fan.
Everyone knows what this team is. No need to try and on people who want to actually enjoy fanhood instead of being a dime-a-dozen clowns battling for use of the most tired-ass schtick on the board. You're not an expert because you predict the obvious on a 50-50.
All that needs to happen is for Pop to come in with a legit plan to limit Jokic, and the Spurs can steal a game. Once you steal one game, you get HCA, and SA is a pretty strong bet to hold it if they get it. But that game-plan is critical, because no only is the best game to steal the first one, but I have less faith in Pop making proactive adjustments to steal a later game than I do him coming up with a good plan beforehand.
Maybe not easily but easier than it would be against the Dubs or Rox in the first round. That plus the fact the Spurs very easily could have won that last game in Denver, can't recall if it was one of the many DeFrozen collapses but I do remember feeling that the Spurs could have easily won that game.
Username does **NOT** check out
A lot of these guys who on those who root for a positive outcome are:
1) Fans of other teams on here to troll Spurs fans
2) Fans of no teams on here to troll in general
3) Spurs fans who know that if the Spurs lose, they can seem smart by saying "I told you so" and if they win everyone will be in too good of a mood to call them out on it. So, its a win-win from their perspective.
4) Genuine Spurs fans who see flaws in the team, but not the equivalent flaws in other teams.
5) People who like to hate for hates sake. (It amazes me that Spurs fans can "hate" someone like Tony or Manu or Robinson or even an over-achiever like Forbes, but unless a player is a GOAT at their position (TD), they seldom receive near-unanimous support. Some are just wired that way.
6) Genuine fans with genuine critiques, but those criticism are made in an overly dramatic or profane way. But, hey, who am I to criticize when I've a sig like this
All that said, it is a message board, so we want people with different opinions. If everyone were sickly positive, there'd be no point of discussion.
I agree, negative emotion is necessary but there's a rational approach and Number 4 is the type of approach. My disdain is for the couch-experts and the player fans.
I live in Raiderland and their fans are always ecstatic when they watch them play despite knowing they're generally awful and in the back of their mind know the team is going to lose more often than not. You can enjoy something and root for something even if you know its not the tippy-top muy chingon squad.
Seems like Spurs fans are becoming a lot like today's NBA players.
I am a homer - but I am also aware that Denver has a decent team - and Jokic is the type of center that gives Aldridge problems because Aldridge cannot easily bully him in the paint - the guy is stout and immoveable.
Aldridge hopefully solves him with speed and great shooting and aggressive play -
I can't understand how Spur fan is readily dismissing the Nuggets - especially when the Spurs are not a good road team.
I think the spurs will win - but the Nuggets are no joke.
I get of gales of laughter in SoCal when I talk to my sports-fan friends about our Spurs message board -- the one where Gregg Popovich is considered an "idiot" and an atrocious coach.
Outside the bubble of this forum, of course, Pop is pretty much considered the gold-standard of NBA coaches.
They can't believe that we call persons who appreciate Pop things like "Popsuckers."
They laugh and shake their heads in disbelief.
Yeah, i think if we don't steal one of the first two, it's probably curtains for us. We need to have Jokic and these Nuggets rattled first..
Last game in Denver was last week where we were skull- ed by 28.
I haven't seen anyone say the Spurs could "easily" steal the series from Denver.
This Spurs team is just ridiculously volatile. They're capable of losing against any team, and they're also capable of beating any team. I was in attendance when the Spurs beat Denver back in December. They split the season series 2-2. Anything can happen.
I guarantee you that the trolls that go on and on about how Pop and the FO are a bunch of idiots on here, would never spew their out in public. They would get laughed at relentlessly.
I haven't seen anybody that thinks they can "easily" steal one from the Nuggets..the reasons for wanting Denver:
1. The Warriors and Rockets are SIGNIFICANTLY better than the rest of the West
2. There's nothing to really dislike about the Nuggets..the Spurs don't have a rivalry with them, they aren't a media darling and they don't have any players to hate..
Losing to them wouldn't be nearly as annoying as having to watch GS or Houston beat the Spurs
3. Denver is one of the weakest West 2 seeds in a long time
Good point. Pop putting together a gameplan pre-game/series >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pop as an in-game manager.
Spurs are 100-1 to win the Western Conference per Vegas.
(Denver is only 25-1.)
I like all of these, Bill. Sign me up for #7 - All of the above.
It's called being a Spurs fans; let alone a sports fan. Our team made the playoffs! Let's cheer them on! Learning to cheer for the underdog and seeing some favorable match ups vs the alternative is only things that can help us win more. We all know every year, things like this usually align for the championship team. Might as well celebrate the little victories we get before watching every game as it unfolds. Enjoy every moment!
Mugen owning it.

because you don't win by thinking you'll lose.
I am pretty confident that the coaching staff will come up with an excellent plan. The problem is the execution, though. And there I have less confidence in the players.
The problem I have with Pop lately is the late game management.
No doubt anyway that we need to steal a game and start 1-1 to have any chance in the series. Even if Denver is clearly a much better team, I think every game is open, playoffs are a different beast.
Spot on.
